Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seatbelt which fastened Spriha to Auro’s life was so frayed from the stresses and strains between them, he feared she would eject out any second. That evening at the restaurant, Spriha had confided to Auro, even when they broke up, he was always in her mind. Pulsating, throbbing. Kind of like a tumour. When Auro asked her, why she hadn’t excised him, she said, it was too late, Auro had already spread, inside her. Did she mean it, literally? Had Auro’s half-truth, metastasised, to a point, where it could no longer be surgically removed from Spriha’s life? While Auro holds his tears hostage, why does Spriha extort those promises from him, before she logs out of his life, for the final time? Why does she pass the buck of that envelope to Auro? What’s in it for him? The answers lie across the country in Spriha’s hometown, Kolkata. . . Ferreting down the Departure Hall the airline staffer announces the last and final call. Auro’s feet are cold and his palms sweaty. He has broken promises before. What frigging difference does it make if he breaks one more? Spriha is never going to know. She isn’t watching, anymore. Or is she?

Download or read book Functional Anatomy of Yoga written by David Keil and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2023-01-17 with total page 718 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A full-color illustrated exploration of the body in motion during yoga practice • Examines anatomical patterns and body mechanics in specific asanas, such as forward bends, twists, external hip rotations, arm balances, and back bends, to inspire confidence in students, deepen practice, and prevent injury • Provides detailed images and photos overlaid with anatomical diagrams, allowing you to see clearly what is happening within each asana discussed • Explores how various yoga postures interrelate from the perspective of functional anatomy In this full-color illustrated guide, David Keil brings the anatomy of the body in yoga asanas to life. Writing in an accessible, conversational tone, he outlines how practitioners and yoga teachers alike can utilize a deeper understanding of their anatomy and its movement and function to deepen their yoga practice, increase confidence, prevent injury, and better understand their students and their challenges. Providing detailed images and photos overlaid with anatomical diagrams, allowing you to see clearly what is happening within each asana discussed, Keil shows how the muscles, joints, tendons, and structure of the body work together to support integrated movement. He discusses the basics of functional anatomy, exploring the workings of the foot and ankle, the knee, the hip joint, the pelvis and SI joint, the spine, the shoulder, and the hand, wrist, and elbow. He examines anatomical patterns and body mechanics in specific asanas, such as forward bends, twists, external hip rotations, arm balances, and back bends, such as, for example, how a wide-legged forward bend shifts the position of the femur and the pelvis, allowing students with tight hamstrings to accomplish a deep forward bend--something they struggle with when the legs are together. Keil also shows how various yoga postures interrelate from the perspective of functional anatomy. Revealing in detail how everything in the body is connected and how your anatomy functions holistically during yoga practice, this book helps you to understand the body better and connect and integrate yoga postures in a completely new way.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IF WITI'GENSTEIN COULD TALK, COULD WE UNDERSTAND HIM? Perusing the secondary literature on Wittgenstein, I have frequently experienced a perfect Brechtean Entfremdungseffekt. This is interesting, I have felt like saying when reading books and papers on Wittgenstein, but who is the writer talking about? Certainly not Ludwig Wittgenstein the actual person who wrote his books and notebooks and whom I happened to meet. Why is there this strange gap between the ideas of the actual philosopher and the musings of his interpreters? Wittgenstein is talking to us through the posthumous publication of his writings. Why don't philosophers understand what he is saying? A partial reason is outlined in the first essay of this volume. Wittgenstein was far too impatient to explain in his books and book drafts what his problems were, what it was that he was trying to get clear about. He was even too impatient to explain in full his earlier solutions, often merely referring to them casually as it were in a shorthand notation. For one important instance, in The Brown Book, Wittgenstein had explained in some detail what name-object relationships amount to in his view. There he offers both an explanation of what his problem is and an account of his own view illustrated by means of specific examples of language-games. But when he raises the same question again in Philosophical Investigations I, sec.

Download or read book God s Truth We Have Been Misinformed about God for the Last 3 000 Years written by Ronald S. Coltart and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's Truth says what should have been said thousands of years ago. If it had been, history would not have recorded the millions upon millions of people that were needlessly slaughtered in the name of God and religion. For an eye-opening experience and to bridge the divisions between us, read God's Truth: we have been misinformed about God for the last 3,000 years! The religions of the world have not lived up to their promise of bringing peace, love and understanding to mankind. In fact, religion has brought just the opposite: war, hate and intolerance. How is this possible? Quite simply because we have the wrong picture in our minds about who, where and what is God. God's Truth clarifies the "who, where and what" God is, and therefore can bring unity and understanding to people everywhere. The book is not based on opinions, religions or ancient writings. As the title suggests, it is entirely built upon evidence that can be understood by the youngest children. This evidence has been with us for thousands of years, but has been largely overlooked until now. God's Truth is written in a friendly, conversational style. Because it unfolds facts that have been overlooked, it is arresting, intriguing and unique. The book will appeal to people throughout the world, irrespective of religion or ethnic background, as it points a way for mankind to find the real God, without any theology or its divisive concepts. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you ever wonder how the world got to be in such a mess? Why does evil abound? Why do bad things happen to everyone, including “good” people? The book that you hold in your hands will give you a basic overview of just how sin got started on earth and its origin in heaven. “The devil made me do it” was a popularized catchphrase by Comedian Flip Wilson. But within these covers, you’ll learn that God is more powerful than the devil, and He is “able to keep you from falling” (Jude 24). You will also learn to identify the mysterious antichrist by learning the biblical identifiers. Another bit of knowledge that you will gain is who changed—or rather, attempted to change—the Ten Commandments, why, and where they are in print in their modified version. Do you know the five major characteristics of the God Family? You’ll find them outlined and explained here: 1. Holiness; 2. Omnipotence; 3. Omnipresence; 4. Omniscience; and 5. Immortality. By the time you come to the last page, you will know three things for sure: God is all-powerful, He loves you more than you can imagine, and He craves your love in return. And when you’ve finished, share the book with a friend who needs to know who God is. “…It is based in sound biblical knowledge with a sensitivity from one who has traveled life’s road and found God’s unchanging love.” —Jay Gallimore, former president, Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists “Phyllis was a student of the Word and she was a teacher at heart which you will discover as you journey through this book.” —Nadine Whitacre, Retired Nurse
Download or read book The Beer Drinker s Guide to God written by William B. Miller and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-05-06 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s no accident that Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine! Written by an Episcopalian priest-slash-bar owner, this thoughtful, well-written book of spiritual essays distills lessons about the character of God from stories about adult beverages. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good.” —Psalm 34:8 Being upright does not mean you have to be uptight—at least according to Father Bill Miller, an Episcopal priest/bar owner. As a fan of both spirits and the Holy Spirit, he is very familiar with the intoxicating lure of some of God’s finer creations, and in The Beer Drinker’s Guide to God he brews up insightful, beautifully written reflections about the strange intersections of God, and, well…beer. In this humorous collection of essays, he weaves together stories from his life in ministry, his travels in search of the world’s best Scotch, his conversations with Trappist monks, and colorful evenings in his bar, Padre’s. He also reflects on the lessons he’s learned from baseball, Playboy bunnies, Las Vegas, and his attempts to become chaplain to the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, all while (somehow) crafting essays about the spiritual importance of generosity, sacrifice, openness, and spiritual transformation. Really. Essays include: -WWJD: What Would Jesus Drink? -Brewed Over Me and Distill Me, O Lord -Pearls of Great Price -Chicken Soup for the Hooters Girl’s Soul -Miss Hawaii and Other Miss Takes -Don’t Leave me Hanging: The Theological Significance of Athletic Supporters From the deeply touching to the laugh-out-loud funny, these stories ultimately open our minds to the glory of God and our mouths to some of God’s more delicious creations. The Beer Drinker’s Guide to God is a smart, hilarious book for those thirsty for God’s truth.

To gain election - and retain office - in a democratic system, politicians are frequently compelled to be dishonest. They engage in benevolent lying because obstruction by stupid voters will otherwise stop them advancing the national interest as they see it.' So claims the author of this eye-opening book, which straddles politics, philosophy, morality and economics. Alex Rubner's own background as an economist advising policy-makers gives authority to his words and a personal dimension to his illustrations.
