Book Selective Spectrometric Analysis by Laser Induced Matrix Isolation Fluorometry

Download or read book Selective Spectrometric Analysis by Laser Induced Matrix Isolation Fluorometry written by VB. Conrad and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The techniques of laser-induced matrix isolation fluorescence spectrometry and their application to identification and quantification of individual organic compounds (especially polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) in complex mixtures are described. Applications of Shpol'skii matrices, site-selection techniques, and time-resolved measurement of fluorescence to the matrix-isolation fluorometric characterization of complex mixtures are discussed. The need to use laser excitation of fluorescence to exploit fully the analytical selectivity offered by use of cryogenic specimen matrices is stressed.

Book Applications of Laser Induced Fluorescence Excitation Emission Matrix Spectroscopy for the Analysis of PAHs

Download or read book Applications of Laser Induced Fluorescence Excitation Emission Matrix Spectroscopy for the Analysis of PAHs written by Sean J. Hart and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 786 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For HPLC and FIA, the data are analyzed by examining the summed fluorescence plots and qualitatively comparing the EEMs with standard measurements made with the same system. Species are qualitatively identified and quantitated by RAFA using pure component EEMs as standards and the EEMs measured during an analysis as the unknowns. RAFA calculated PAH concentrations in HPLC and FIA were in the near-quantitative regime, typically within a factor of 2 of the known concentration for laboratory-prepared mixtures. Several real world samples were analyzed and the results were generally acceptable: for HPLC all components were identified and all except two were quantitated to within a factor of 2. Analysis of lab mixtures by FIA yielded good agreement with known concentrations. The analysis of complex real world samples with many components provided reasonable qualitative identification of species and estimates of concentration.

Book A Study of Laser induced Fluorescence Back scattered Amplified Stimulated Emission of Bulk Vapors

Download or read book A Study of Laser induced Fluorescence Back scattered Amplified Stimulated Emission of Bulk Vapors written by Jeffrey B. Oleske and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method for the stand-off detection of vapors based on the observation of laser-induced fluorescence back-scattered amplified stimulated emission (LIF-BASE) is described. LIF-BASE generates uniaxial intensity distributions of the observed fluorescence with the majority of intensity propagating along the excitation axis in both the forward and backward directions. The detection of bulk vapor at significant stand-off distances is readily achieved. Molecules of differing vapor pressures, quantum yields of fluorescence, and fluorescence lifetimes were examined under adjustable experimental conditions. Excitation energy, laser fluence, analyte concentration, detection angle, and stand-off distance were among the factors studied in order to determine optimal parameters for ASE generation from aromatic hydrocarbon, ketone, nitrogen oxide, and nitroaromatic vapors.

Book Single Molecule Detection in Solution

Download or read book Single Molecule Detection in Solution written by Christoph Zander and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2002-05-06 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The detection of single molecules opens up new horizons in analytical chemistry, biology and medicine. This discipline, which belongs to the expanding field of nanoscience, has been rapidly emerging over the last ten years. This handbook provides a thorough overview of the field. It begins with basics of single molecule detection in solution, describes methods and devices (fluorescense correlation spectroscopy, surface enhanced Raman scattering, sensors, especially dyes, screening techniques, especially confocal laser scanning microscopy). In the second part, various applications in life sciences and medicine provide the latest research results. This modern handbook is a highly accessible reference for a broad community from advanced researchers, specialists and company professionals in physics, spectroscopy, biotechnology, analytical chemistry, and medicine. Written by leading authorities in the field, it is timely and fills a gap - up to now there exists no handbook concerning this theme.
