Written with Analytical Chemists, Inorganic Chemists, Spectroscopists as well as Industry Practitioners in mind, the Handbook of Rare Earth Elements is an indispensable reference for everyone working with rare earth elements.

Book Rare Earth Element Geochemistry

Download or read book Rare Earth Element Geochemistry written by P. Henderson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developments in Geochemistry, Volume 2: Rare Earth Element Geochemistry presents the remarkable developments in the chemistry and geochemistry of the rare earth elements. This book discusses the analytical techniques and the recognition that rare earth fractionation occurs naturally in different ways. Organized into 13 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the wide array of types and sizes of the cation coordination polyhedral in rock-forming minerals. This text then examines the application of rare earth element abundances to petrogenetic problems that has centered on the evolution of igneous rocks. Other chapters consider the matching of observed rare earth element abundances with those provided by the theoretical modeling of petrogenetic processes. This book discusses as well the hypotheses on the genesis of a rock or mineral suite. The final chapter deals with the principal analytical methods. This book is a valuable resource for undergraduates, lecturers, and researchers who study petrology and geochemistry.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourteenth Rare Earth Research Conference was held June 25- 28, 1979, at North Dakota State University in Fargo. The meeting was hosted by the College of Science and Mathematics and the Depart ment of Physics. Since the first conference was held in 1960, sub sequent meetings have grown in size and prestige to become one of the leading international forums devoted to disseminating new infor mation relative to rare earth science and technology. The meeting in Fargo was one of the largest yet held. The Program Committee scheduled over 160 papers repres~nting colleagues from 18 countries in both oral and poster sessions that - cluded Spectroscopy (Luminescence, Fluorescence, Laser, Mossbauer, ESR); Metallurgy and Materials Preparation; Solution, Solvation and Analytical Chemistry; X-ray and Neutron Diffraction; Transport and Thermal Properties; Hydrides; Magnetism; and Rare Earth Technology. A first and special event which the organizers hope to perpet uate at future meetings was to announce the recipient of the rare earth prize, hereafter called the Frank H. Spedding Award. Governor Arthur A. Link, State of North Dakota, on behalf of the Selection Committee, presented Professor Frank H. Spedding with a special citation. Professor Spedding spoke briefly and introduced the first recipient, Professor W. Edward Wallace from the University of Pitts burgh.

Book An Introduction to the Analytical Chemistry of the Rarer Elements Classic Reprint

Download or read book An Introduction to the Analytical Chemistry of the Rarer Elements Classic Reprint written by Louis J. Curtman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-25 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Introduction to the Analytical Chemistry of the Rarer Elements The experiments described in this book are designed to lay a sound foundation for the analytical study of the rarer elements. The great economic importance attained by these metals in the last decade indicates the imperative need of introducing into our colleges and universities a course of instruction such as is given in this book. Lectures and text-book study unsupported by adequate laboratory practice are ineffective in this essentially experimental field. The author wishing to give his students a brief laboratory course in the rarer elements in which the analytical side would be emphasized, looked about in vain for a suitable text. He there fore prepared this series of experiments to meet his requirements. Every experiment described in this manual was personally performed and repeated by the author. As is well known, the results obtained in preliminary experiments in qualitative analysis depend not only upon the concentrations of the test-solutions used, but also upon the strengths of the reagents employed. To this end, test - solutions of known concentrations are invariably em ployed. The preparation of these solutions is facilitated by the use of the author's special table giving the quantities of the salts or compounds to be used in each set of experiments. To insure further definiteness in the results, directions are given for pre paring the reagents to be used in making the tests.
