Book Carleman s Formulas in Complex Analysis

Download or read book Carleman s Formulas in Complex Analysis written by L.A. Aizenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integral representations of holomorphic functions play an important part in the classical theory of functions of one complex variable and in multidimensional com plex analysis (in the later case, alongside with integration over the whole boundary aD of a domain D we frequently encounter integration over the Shilov boundary 5 = S(D)). They solve the classical problem of recovering at the points of a do main D a holomorphic function that is sufficiently well-behaved when approaching the boundary aD, from its values on aD or on S. Alongside with this classical problem, it is possible and natural to consider the following one: to recover the holomorphic function in D from its values on some set MeaD not containing S. Of course, M is to be a set of uniqueness for the class of holomorphic functions under consideration (for example, for the functions continuous in D or belonging to the Hardy class HP(D), p ~ 1).

Book Mathematical Theory of Elasticity of Quasicrystals and Its Applications

Download or read book Mathematical Theory of Elasticity of Quasicrystals and Its Applications written by Tianyou Fan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-25 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This inter-disciplinary work covering the continuum mechanics of novel materials, condensed matter physics and partial differential equations discusses the mathematical theory of elasticity of quasicrystals (a new condensed matter) and its applications by setting up new partial differential equations of higher order and their solutions under complicated boundary value and initial value conditions. The new theories developed here dramatically simplify the solving of complicated elasticity equation systems. Large numbers of complicated equations involving elasticity are reduced to a single or a few partial differential equations of higher order. Systematical and direct methods of mathematical physics and complex variable functions are developed to solve the equations under appropriate boundary value and initial value conditions, and many exact analytical solutions are constructed. The dynamic and non-linear analysis of deformation and fracture of quasicrystals in this volume presents an innovative approach. It gives a clear-cut, strict and systematic mathematical overview of the field. Comprehensive and detailed mathematical derivations guide readers through the work. By combining mathematical calculations and experimental data, theoretical analysis and practical applications, and analytical and numerical studies, readers will gain systematic, comprehensive and in-depth knowledge on continuum mechanics, condensed matter physics and applied mathematics.

Book Analysis of the Navier Stokes Problem

Download or read book Analysis of the Navier Stokes Problem written by Alexander G. Ramm and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-24 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book revises and expands upon the prior edition, The Navier-Stokes Problem. The focus of this book is to provide a mathematical analysis of the Navier-Stokes Problem (NSP) in R^3 without boundaries. Before delving into analysis, the author begins by explaining the background and history of the Navier-Stokes Problem. This edition includes new analysis and an a priori estimate of the solution. The estimate proves the contradictory nature of the Navier-Stokes Problem. The author reaches the conclusion that the solution to the NSP with smooth and rapidly decaying data cannot exist for all positive times. By proving the NSP paradox, this book provides a solution to the millennium problem concerning the Navier-Stokes Equations and shows that they are physically and mathematically contradictive.

Book The Schwarz Function and Its Applications

Download or read book The Schwarz Function and Its Applications written by Philip J. Davis and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1974-12-31 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: H. A. Schwarz showed us how to extend the notion of reflection in straight lines and circles to reflection in an arbitrary analytic arc. Notable applications were made to the symmetry principle and to problems of analytic continuation. Reflection, in the hands of Schwarz, is an antianalytic mapping. By taking its complex conjugate, we arrive at an analytic function that we have called here the Schwarz Function of the analytic arc. This function is worthy of study in its own right and this essay presents such a study. In dealing with certain familiar topics, the use of the Schwarz Function lends a point of view, a clarity and elegance, and a degree of generality which might otherwise be missing. It opens up a line of inquiry which has yielded numerous interesting things in complex variables; it illuminates some functional equations and a variety of iterations which interest the numerical analyst. The perceptive reader will certainly find here some old wine in relabelled bottles. But one of the principles of mathematical growth is that the relabelling process often suggests a new generation of problems. Means become ends; the medium rapidly becomes the message. This book is not wholly self-contained. Readers will find that they should be familiar with the elementary portions of linear algebra and of the theory of functions of a complex variable.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on the tradition of an outstanding series of conferences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the organizers attracted an international group of scholars to open the new Millennium with a conference that reviewed the current state of number theory research and pointed to future directions in the field. The conference was the largest general number theory conference in recent history, featuring a total of 159 talks, with the plenary lectures given by George Andrews, Jean Bourgain, Kevin Ford, Ron Graham, Andrew Granville, Roger Heath-Brown, Christopher Hooley, Winnie Li, Kumar Murty, Mel Nathanson, Ken Ono, Carl Pomerance, Bjorn Poonen, Wolfgang Schmidt, Chris Skinner, K. Soundararajan, Robert Tijdeman, Robert Vaughan, and Hugh Williams. The Proceedings Volumes of the conference review some of the major number theory achievements of this century and to chart some of the directions in which the subject will be heading during the new century. These volumes will serve as a useful reference to researchers in the area and an introduction to topics of current interest in number theory for a general audience in mathematics.
