Book Analysis of Vibration Rotation Spectra of Methane

Download or read book Analysis of Vibration Rotation Spectra of Methane written by Kenneth Fox and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes the data on methane provided for the compilation of spectroscopic parameters for several infrared-active molecules occurring naturally in the terrestrial atmosphere. Vibration-rotation bands of (12C)H4 and (13C)H4 in the 1 to 8.5 micrometer region were considered. Details, including conventions in notation, are given for the following parameters compiled for each spectral line: spectral position, absolute intensity, half-width, energy of the initial state of the transition, initial- and final-state rotational and vibrational quantum numbers, and isotopic species. References are provided to indicate the sources of experimental measurements and theoretical calculations. (Modified author abstract).

Book High resolution Spectra of CH4 in the 2700 to 3200 Cm 1 Region

Download or read book High resolution Spectra of CH4 in the 2700 to 3200 Cm 1 Region written by Hajime Sakai and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Idealab 2-m path-difference interferometer was used to obtain data of CH4 in the 1/2700 to 1/3200 cm region to a resolution of 1/.006 cm. Obtained spectral data are presented as well as the results of analysis to calculate line positions and strengths. A comparison of the present data with previously obtained data is also presented. The results of this study are tabulated using the format of the AFGL atmospheric line compilation. (Author).

Book Methane Spectral Analysis

Download or read book Methane Spectral Analysis written by G. Dresselhaus and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vibration-rotation hamiltonian for cubic symmetry molecules was developed using an expansion in terms of angular momentum matrices. A computer program for ground state of the methane molecule was written which gave symmetries and values for the rotational levels. A perturbation theory was developed for the excited vibrational states based on spherical jellium molecule for the ground state. This perturbation was shown to give good convergence for the nearly degenerate v2, v4 vibrational levels in methane. Preliminary work on the development of computer programs for a calculation of the vibrational levels of molecules using LCAO x(alpha) calculations for the electronic structure was carried out. Book Molecular Spectroscopy Modern Research V3

Download or read book Molecular Spectroscopy Modern Research V3 written by K.N. Rao and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular Spectroscopy: Modern Research, Volume III is a collection of papers presented at the 40th Annual Molecular Spectroscopy Symposium, held at the Ohio State University. The contributors of this seven-chapter text cover the significant advances in molecular spectroscopic research and their application in chemistry. Chapters 1 and 2 discuss first the higher-order vibration-rotation interactions in molecules and then present formulas and an insight into the direction being taken in theoretical pursuits. Chapter 3 provides an extensive compilation of published intensity and collision broadening parameters derived from infrared spectra. This chapter also contains a detailed discussion using consistent notation of some of the methods commonly applied to extract such information from laboratory spectra. Chapter 4 examines a variety of laser systems and their application in investigations involving triatomic free radicals and ions, while chapter 5 considers the developments in the microwave spectroscopic studies on nonpolar molecules when their symmetry is reduced by isotopic substitution. Chapter 6 emphasizes the quasi-linear molecular problem to develop an appreciation of the symptoms of quasi-linearity and theoretical treatments thereof. This chapter also examines the increasing role of highly resolved spectra in the interpretation of various large-amplitude motions in molecules. Lastly, Chapter 7 describes the electric multipolar moments of hydrogen and its isotopes. Spectroscopists, chemists, and researchers will find this work invaluable.
