Book Analysis of Trace Amounts of Oxygen Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide in Nitrogen Using Gas Chromatography

Download or read book Analysis of Trace Amounts of Oxygen Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide in Nitrogen Using Gas Chromatography written by Mellisa Janse van Rensburg and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An in-house developed method is presented for the purity analysis of nitrogen (N2) built-in purifier (BIPTM)) gas for the trace contaminant gases carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2)) and carbon monoxide (CO), using gas chromatography with a pulsed discharge helium ionisation detector (GC-PDHID). Nitrogen BIPTM gas is used as a matrix gas or diluent gas for the gravimetric preparation of binary reference materials of CO, CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2)) and nitric oxide (NO) at the CSIR NML gas metrology laboratory. Purity analysis of nitrogen BIPTM is required to decrease the measurement uncertainty of the calculated gravimetric concentrations of the gaseous reference materials produced. The aim of the research was to find a method where amounts

Book The Analysis of Gases by Chromatography

Download or read book The Analysis of Gases by Chromatography written by C. J. Cowper and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended to enable trained scientists to equip themselves to successfully perform analyses of complex gas mixtures. The equipment and the considerations governing the choice of carrier gas are described in detail. Selection of methods for use on complex mixtures often involves the choice of more than one column; the separating capabilities of column packing and how they can be used in combinations are described and numerous examples are given. The handling of samples prior to separation and the calculation of results after separation, including calibration, are described. Throughout, special emphasis is given to the differences between gas analysis and the better documented liquid analysis.

Book Analytical Reaction Gas Chromatography

Download or read book Analytical Reaction Gas Chromatography written by Viktor G. Berezkin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most universal and effective method for the analysis of complex multicomponent mixtures of volatile substances is gas chromatography. However, there are a number of limitations asso ciated with the classical variation of this technique which retard its development and the further expansion of its application: 1) the identification of the components of a complex mix ture of unknown composition is in itself a complex and difficult problem, unless the homologous series of the component to be identified is known; 2) the overlapping of chromatographic peaks for several compounds makes it difficult, and in a number of cases impossible, to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of these components, and leads to the necessity of using several columns of different polarities or to the use of columns with very high efficiency; 3) the direct analysis of unstable and nonvolatile compounds is impossible; 4) the difficulty of quantitative chromatographic analysis using thermal conductivity detectors increases with the necessity of determining individual response (calibration) factors; the insensitivity of the flame ionization detector to a number of substances (inorganic gases) leads to the necessity of introducing additional operations (prelimi nary concentration of trace components) in connection with thermal conductivity detectors. vii viii FOREWORD The directed use of chemical conversion of the compounds analyzed usually makes it possible to remove the limitations cited above.

Book Trace Analysis of Specialty and Electronic Gases

Download or read book Trace Analysis of Specialty and Electronic Gases written by William M. Geiger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-07-15 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the latest advances and applications of specialty and electronic gas analysis The semiconductor industry depends upon a broad range of instrumental techniques in order to detect and analyze impurities that may be present in specialty and electronic gases, including permanent gases, water vapor, reaction by-products, and metal species. Trace Analysis of Specialty and Electronic Gases draws together all the latest advances in analytical chemistry, providing researchers with both the theory and the operating principles of the full spectrum of instrumental techniques available for specialty and electronic gas analysis. Moreover, the book details the advantages and disadvantages of each technique, steering readers away from common pitfalls. Featuring contributions from leading analytical and industrial chemists, Trace Analysis of Specialty and Electronic Gases covers a wide range of practical industrial applications. The book begins with the historical development of gas analysis and then focuses on particular subjects or techniques such as: Metals sampling and ICP-MS analysis Improvements in FTIR spectroscopy Water vapor analysis techniques New infrared laser absorption spectroscopy approaches GC/MS, GC/AED, and GC-ICP-MS techniques Gas chromatography columns Atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry Lastly, the book examines gas mixtures and standards that are critical for instrument calibration. There are also two appendices offering information on fittings and material compatibility. With its thorough review of the literature and step-by-step guidance, Trace Analysis of Specialty and Electronic Gases enables researchers to take full advantage of the latest advances in gas analysis. Although the book's focus is the semiconductor and electronics industry, analytical chemists in other industries facing challenges with such issues as detection selectivity and sensitivity, matrix gas interference, and materials compatibility will also discover plenty of useful analytical approaches and techniques.
