Book Mass Spectrometry of Priority Pollutants

Download or read book Mass Spectrometry of Priority Pollutants written by Brian Middleditch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the list of organic priority pollutants was first published, many mass spec troscopists went scrambling to their reference books. GC-MS was mandated for the analysis of 114 compounds, yet the spectra of many of them, if they had been recorded at all, were scattered throughout the literature. Moreover, it soon became apparent that, even if a sufficient number of instruments could be made available to undertake the task of monitoring 114 substances in the effluents of 21 categories of industry, the personnel could not be trained to perform the analyses and interpret the results. The solution to this problem has been the development of highly automated mass spectrometers which can be operated by personnel without the traditional research training. This book is for the new breed of mass spectroscopist who is not interested in the esoteric details of mass spectral fragmentation, but who merely wishes to identify specific pollutants in effluents. Our inclusion of com prehensive lists of synonyms and bibliographic data should make the book of even greater value to the reader who is not too familiar with the idiosyncrasies of chemical nomenclature and the scientific literature. The experienced mass spectroscopist should also benefit from having all of the data collected together in one volume. This is a book to be used, rather than deposited in a library distant from the laboratory: we would hope that it will fmd a place on top of every mass spectrometer used for the analysis of priority pollutants.

Download or read book Handbook of GC MS written by Hans-Joachim Hübschmann and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-04-22 with total page 880 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only comprehensive reference on this popular and rapidly developing technique provides a detailed overview, ranging from fundamentals to applications, including a section on the evaluation of GC-MS analyses. As such, it covers all aspects, including the theory and principles, as well as a broad range of real-life examples taken from laboratories in environmental, food, pharmaceutical and clinical analysis. It also features a glossary of approximately 300 terms and a substance index that facilitates finding a specific application. For this new edition the work has been now extended to two volumes, reflecting the latest developments in the technique and related instrumentation, while also incorporating several new examples of applications in many fields. The first two editions were very well received, making this handbook a must-have in all analytical laboratories using GC-MS.

Book Analytical Techniques in Environmental Chemistry 2

Download or read book Analytical Techniques in Environmental Chemistry 2 written by J. Albaiges and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-31 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytical Techniques in Environmental Chemistry 2 focuses on the establishment of analytical techniques in the management of compounds relative to their effects on health and nature. The book stresses that these analytical techniques are essential in order to cope with the problems arising from the utilization of these compounds. The selection contains the contributions of authors who have continuously performed studies on the analysis of organic and inorganic pollutants and monitoring strategies or case histories of compounds. These pieces focus on the role of analytical chemistry in the control of compounds, particularly if the compounds are seen to pose threat to health and the environment. The text presents studies on the determination of how these compounds can become pollutants, which are emphasized by the experiments and laboratory procedures mentioned in the book. Through research on hazardous compounds in different areas, the book manages to point out the differences of how these compounds can affect the environment and health. The text then proceeds by presenting various analytical techniques that could be employed to mitigate the hazardous nature of these compounds. The book is a reliable source of information for scholars and readers who are interested in studying how to control the hazardous effects of compounds both on health and the environment.
