Book Performance Analysis of PAPR Reduction in Helical Interleaved OFDM System

Download or read book Performance Analysis of PAPR Reduction in Helical Interleaved OFDM System written by Manoj Kumar Shukla and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the most promising technique for the fourth generation (4G) communication. High spectral efficiency, immunity to channel interference and nonlinear distortions are some advantages of OFDM. But frequency offset and high peak-to-average power ratios (PAPR) for large number of subcarriers are two major drawbacks for practical application. This paper presents the PAPR reduction techniques for OFDM system such as interleaving and different phase rotation schemes. Selected mapping (SLM) and partial transmit sequence (PTS) are applied with mentioning distinct conditions for the application of these techniques. This paper also presents helical interleaver in OFDM system, for the reduction of system complexity and significant reduction in memory requirement as well. Evaluation is done on the basis of mathematical analysis and mentions best way to simulate in step-wise manner in MATLAB.

Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) which is one of the major drawbacks of OFDM system is also discussed here along with the discussion of different PAPR reduction techniques. Finally, a new technique called "Double Companding" by means of multiple companding has been proposed to reduce the PAPR. The simulation results show that it has better performance in terms of PAPR reduction than the conventional companding scheme.

Book Improvement of Papr Reduction for Ofdm Signal in Lte System

Download or read book Improvement of Papr Reduction for Ofdm Signal in Lte System written by Md. Munjure Mowla and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last couple of years, wireless communications have experienced a quick growth due to the ubiquitous mobility, super internet speed and huge multimedia services & applications. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an emerging research field of wireless communication and finds its application where high data rate is required at low latency and better spectral efficiency. OFDM signals have a generic problem of high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) which is defined as the ratio of the peak power to the average power of the OFDM signal. The drawback of high PAPR is that the dynamic range of the power amplifier (PA) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) during the transmission and reception of the signal is higher. The main focus of this research is to design & implement a new PAPR reduction scheme based on amplitude clipping & filtering method which reduces the PAPR significantly. Simulation results show the considerable improvement in case of PAPR reduction compare to an existing method. Besides these, overview, motivation & different types of analysis of PAPR reduction techniques are discussed in this book.

Download or read book PAPR Reduction for OFDM written by William Liu and published by . This book was released on 2013-07-02 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major drawback of OFDM systems is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal. In this book, we describe the design, working principle, advantage and disadvantage of OFDM. A comprehensive analysis of different PAPR reduction methods is presented. The DFT-Spread method, which is the most effective and efficient PAPR reduction technique, is identified. A very detailed theoretical analysis to the DFT-Spread method is provided with regard to the PAPR, both for single user case and multi-user case, with localized subcarrier mapping and distributed subcarrier mapping. For the multi-user case, the analysis is novel and has not been seen anywhere in any publications. A theoretical relationship is derived for the DFT-Spread method with distributed subcarrier mapping, which reveals the PAPR as a function of the modulation order and the number of users. In addition, a novel signal scrambling method is proposed to reduce the PAPR by using space-time block codes. Detailed simulation investigations and analyses are carried out to evaluate the PAPR performance of the DFT-Spread method and the proposed space-time block code signal scrambling method. Simulation investigation is also carried out to investigate the impact of DFT-Spread on the receiving performance.

Book Performance Analysis of Optical OFDM Transmission Systems Using PAPR Mitigation Techniques and Alternative Transforms

Download or read book Performance Analysis of Optical OFDM Transmission Systems Using PAPR Mitigation Techniques and Alternative Transforms written by Laia Nadal Reixats and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: [ANGLÈS] Optical orthogonal division multiplexing (OFDM) has recently been introduced in optical communications because of its robustness against channel dispersion and its high spectral efficiency. OFDM is based on the fast Fourier transform (FFT). In this thesis, we study alternative transforms to create the OFDM symbols: the fast Hartley transform (FHT) and the discrete Wavelet packet transform (DWPT). Besides the advantages of using optical OFDM (O-OFDM), there are also some disadvantages that must be taken into account. High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is one of the major drawbacks of OFDM-based systems that can cause intermodulation among the subcarriers due to the nonlinearities of the fiber and devices such as analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and external modulators. Here, PAPR reduction techniques are studied to mitigate the effects of the PAPR. Finally, we demonstrate that applying PAPR reduction techniques to O-OFDM systems using intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) the effects of the clipping noise are mitigated without the need of adding a higher bias to the signal.

Book OFDM Systems and PAPR Reduction Techniques in OFDM Systems

Download or read book OFDM Systems and PAPR Reduction Techniques in OFDM Systems written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication is one of the important aspects of life. With the advancement in age and its growing demands, there has been rapid growth in the field of communications. Signals, which were initially sent in the analog domain, are being sent more and more in the digital domain these days. For better transmission, even single - carrier waves are being replaced by multi - carriers. Multi - carrier systems like CDMA and OFDM are now - a - days being implemented commonly. In the OFDM system, orthogonally placed sub - carriers are used to carry the data from the transmitter end to the receiver end. Presence of guard band in this system deals with the problem of ISI and noise is minimized by larger number of sub - carriers. But the large Peak - to - Average Power Ratio of these signal have some undesirable effects on the system. In this thesis we have focused on learning the basics of an OFDM System and have undertaken various methods to reduce the PAPR in the system so that this system can be used more commonly and effectively.
