Book Computer aided Nonlinear Control System Design

Download or read book Computer aided Nonlinear Control System Design written by Amir Nassirharand and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-02 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A systematic computer-aided approach provides a versatile setting for the control engineer to overcome the complications of controller design for highly nonlinear systems. Computer-aided Nonlinear Control System Design provides such an approach based on the use of describing functions. The text deals with a large class of nonlinear systems without restrictions on the system order, the number of inputs and/or outputs or the number, type or arrangement of nonlinear terms. The strongly software-oriented methods detailed facilitate fulfillment of tight performance requirements and help the designer to think in purely nonlinear terms, avoiding the expedient of linearization which can impose substantial and unrealistic model limitations and drive up the cost of the final product. Design procedures are presented in a step-by-step algorithmic format each step being a functional unit with outputs that drive the other steps. This procedure may be easily implemented on a digital computer with example problems from mechatronic and aerospace design being used to demonstrate the techniques discussed. The author’s commercial MATLAB®-based environment, available separately from insert URL here, can be used to create simulations showing the results of using the computer-aided control system design ideas characterized in the text. Academic researchers and graduate students studying nonlinear control systems and control engineers dealing with nonlinear plant, particularly mechatronic or aerospace systems will find Computer-aided Nonlinear Control System Design to be of great practical assistance adding to their toolbox of techniques for dealing with system nonlinearities. A basic knowledge of calculus, nonlinear analysis and software engineering will enable the reader to get the best from this book.

Book Analysis and Design of Nonlinear Systems in the Frequency Domain

Download or read book Analysis and Design of Nonlinear Systems in the Frequency Domain written by Yunpeng Zhu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-25 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the development of three novel approaches to build up a framework for the frequency domain analysis and design of nonlinear systems. The concepts are derived from Volterra series representation of nonlinear systems which are described by nonlinear difference or differential equations. Occupying the middle ground between traditional linear approaches and more complex nonlinear system theories, the book will help readers to have a good start to analyse and exploit the nonlinearities. Analysis and Design of Nonlinear Systems in the Frequency Domain provides clear illustrations and examples at the beginning and the end of each chapter, respectively, making it of interest to both academics and practicing engineers.

Book Nonlinear Systems

Download or read book Nonlinear Systems written by Christos K. Volos and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A non-linear system is a set of nonlinear equations, which may be algebraic, ordinary differential, partial differential, fractional, integral or a combination of these. Especially, nowadays, the term dynamical system is used as a synonym of nonlinear systems where the nonlinear equations represent the evolution of a solution over time. So, the notion of dynamical systems arose following the name of equations governing the motion of a system of particles, even though the nonlinear system may have no application to mechanics. Also, from an engineering point of view a nonlinear system may be represented with a feedback loop in which the output of an element is not proportional to its input. Over the last few decades, nonlinear systems have been used to describe a great variety of phenomena, in social and life sciences as well as in physical sciences and engineering. The theory of nonlinear systems has applications to problems of population growth, economics, chemical reactions, celestial mechanics, physiology of nerves, onset of turbulence, regulation of heartbeats, electronic circuits, cryptography, secure communications and many others. Nonlinear dynamical systems, which present chaotic behaviour, are of great importance due to their applications in science and engineering. Chaotic systems are nonlinear dynamical systems and maps that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. The sensitivity of initial conditions is usually called the butterfly effect for dynamical systems and maps. So, nowadays the design and analysis of nonlinear systems and especially chaotic systems has gained the interest of the research community due to the fact that many phenomena on financial, physical, biological, chemical, mechanical and engineering systems can be modelled and studied through the perspective of non-linear dynamics. These nonlinear systems can be modelled by discrete-time or continuous-time mathematical models. This book aims to bridge the gap between the design/analysis and applications, which are the two research stages on the progress of nonlinear systems and also which open up some new directions of real applications, where chaos can be put up to technological use, including secure communication systems, electronic circuits design, memristors and radar. Finally, this book can serve as an updated and handy reference for university professors, graduate students, laboratory researchers as well as physicists and applied mathematicians who are interested in studying the chaos and its applications through the field of nonlinear systems.

Book Stability Analysis of Nonlinear Control Systems on the Digital Computer

Download or read book Stability Analysis of Nonlinear Control Systems on the Digital Computer written by Gernot Pscheid and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study presents a digital method for the analysis of nonlinear control systems, focusing on the dynamic stability under small perturbations. It is based on the classic approach of linearizing the system and then finding the poles of the transfer faction. The differential equations in linearized form are the starting point for the digital computation. With this information in a general, symbolic algebraic expression, providing an additional insight into the problem with the purely numerical treatment cannot give. The nonlinear control systems, one or more of the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial are functions of the quiescent operating point about which the linear analysis is performed. To find this steady-state point, a set of nonlinear algebraic equations has to be solved which often cannot be achieved by analytical means. Therefore, a routine for the iterative solution of nonlinear simultaneous equations is included. After all the necessary numerical information has been assembled, the real values can be substituted into the general characteristic equation and its roots can be evaluated by a numerical technique. By repeated application of the proper parts of the program, steady-state performance curves and root locus plots can be obtained. The work includes a package of FORTRAN IV subroutines and the description of a typical mail program to be used with them.

Book Simultaneous Analysis of Nonlinear Networks on a Digital Computer

Download or read book Simultaneous Analysis of Nonlinear Networks on a Digital Computer written by P. A. Honkanen and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this investigation was to develop the necessary techniques and algorithms to allow the solution of a general nonlinear network on a large scale digital computer. The network equations describing a general nonlinear network were developed from basic principles to obtain a final formulation that describes the network as a set of nonlinear differential equations. Since these equations must be solved numerically, a method that gives the minimum set of equations was chosen. This formulation is the state variable form with the capacitive voltages and inductive currents chosen as the variables. The existence and uniqueness of the analytical solution was shown to exist if the partial derivatives of the parametric network functions are continuous functions. Computer algorithms were developed to accept the schematic network representation and the nonlinear parameter functions, and generated all the required topological and parametric relationships. The numerical experiments conducted during the course of this investigation verify the accuracy of simulation and the versatility of the methods developed in analyzing general nonlinear networks. Book Nonlinear System Dynamics

Download or read book Nonlinear System Dynamics written by W. Richard Kolk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers, scientists, and applied mathematicians are habitually curious about behavior of physical systems. More often than not they will model the system and then analyze the model, hoping to expose the system's dynamic secrets. Traditionally, linear methods have been the norm and nonlinear effects were only added peripherally. This bias for linear techniques arises from the consum mate beauty and order in linear subs paces and the elegance of linear indepen dence is too compelling to be denied. And the bias has been, in the past, for tified by the dearth of nonlinear procedures, rendering the study of nonlinear dynamics untidy. But now a new attractiveness is being conferred on that non descript patchwork, and the virtue of the hidden surprises is gaining deserved respect. With a wide variety of individual techniques available, the student and the engineer as well as the scientist and researcher, are faced with an almost overwhelming task of which to use to help achieve an understanding sufficient to reach a satisfying result. If linear analysis predicts system behavior suffi ciently close to reality, that is delightful. In the more likely case where nonlin ear analysis is required, we believe this text fills an important void. We have tried to compile and bring some order to a large amount of information and techniques, that although well known, is scattered. We have also extended this knowledge base with new material not previously published.
