Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 32 (thesis year 1987) a total of 12,483 theses titles from 22 Canadian and 176 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 32 reports theses submitted in 1987, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book A Survey of the Feasibility of an Analytical Approach to Die Design in Closed die Forging

Download or read book A Survey of the Feasibility of an Analytical Approach to Die Design in Closed die Forging written by Serope Kalpakjian and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study surveys the present state of knowledge on the design of die sequences in closed-die forging with a view toward studying the feasibility of establishing an analytical procedure. The contents are comprised of (1) a review of present methods practiced in die-sequency design, (2) a review of factors involved in metal flow, and (3) examples of analytical work that might constitute the background for a more rational study of the closed-die-forging process. Book Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics

Download or read book Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics written by S. R. Reid and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics reviews significant developments concerning the mechanics of metal forming and impact. Topics covered include the kinematics of steady plane flows in elastoplastic media; contact zone and friction coefficient in hot-rolling; and plastic deformation of porous materials. Developments in the use of superplastic alloys, the use of metal tubes as impact energy absorbers, and fracturing of explosively loaded solids are also discussed. This book has 18 chapters divided equally between the broad headings of metal forming and impact mechanics. The section on metal forming mechanics includes papers that explore an upper bound approach to metal forming processes; rotary forming of rings under kinematic constraints; and microcomputer programs for rolling and extrolling. The section on impact mechanics examines the use of elementary approximation techniques to study plastic deformation in pulse loaded structures; static and dynamic axial crushing of circular and square tubes; and shear-control fragmentation of explosively loaded steel cylinders. This monograph will be of value to structural and mechanical engineers, metallurgists, and materials scientists and technologists, as well as to those active in the field of solid mechanics.

Book Applied Plasticity Second Edition

Download or read book Applied Plasticity Second Edition written by Jagabandhu Chakrabarty and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-07-07 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book begins with the fundamentals of the mathematical theory of plasticity. The discussion then turns to the theory of plastic stress and its applications to structural analysis. It concludes with a wide range of topics in dynamic plasticity including wave propagation, armor penetration, and structural impact in the plastic range. In view of the rapidly growing interest in computational methods, an appendix presents the fundamentals of a finite-element analysis of metal-forming problems.

Download or read book Fem Analysis of Closed Die Forging written by Gessessew Likeleh and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forging is one of the oldest metal working operations known and is used in making parts of widely varying sizes and shapes from variety of metals Closed die forging is one types of forging process in which different types metal are deformed plastically to obtain the required product geometry in a closed cavity that contains shape of the product. The physical phenomena of forging operations, which numerous advantages it has, therefore, are difficult to express with quantitative relationships. The metal flow, friction at the tool/material interface, the heat generation and transfer during plastic flow, and the relationships between microstructure/properties and process conditions are difficult to predict and analyze. Therefore, in most of the time products and their corresponding dies are made by trial and error to reach to the final correct product shape, which is a costly process as materials are wasted in the process as well as it takes considerable time of the expert involved in the operation. With the applications of finite elemental method some of the problems of analysis could be reduced significantly. FEM softwares are very much important in this regard.
