Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The historic account of the Phase-Locked Loops can be traced back from the idea of designing an electromechanical system with the objective of controlling the oscillation of the pendulum of the bell Great George. The method is to contrast the phase of pendulum and the incoming telegraph signal phase using the electromechanical system. That generates the correction signal varying the pendulum oscillation. The idea was conceived as well as implemented by David Robertson, Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Bristol. The term Phase-Locked Loop was coined to this technique by later Researchers in 1932. Professor David Robertson is credited to the Phase-Locked Loop for pioneering the technique. In general setting, the Phase-Locked Loops are for synchronization purposes. The phase locked loops perspective hinges on the analysis, functions and applications.

Book Phase Locked Loops

Download or read book Phase Locked Loops written by Woogeun Rhee and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-01-11 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the essential materials for phase-locked loop circuit design, from fundamentals to practical design aspects A phase-locked loop (PLL) is a type of circuit with a range of important applications in telecommunications and computing. It generates an output signal with a controlled relationship to an input signal, such as an oscillator which matches the phases of input and output signals. This is a critical function in coherent communication systems, with the result that the theory and design of these circuits are essential to electronic communications of all kinds. Phase-Locked Loops: System Perspectives and Circuit Design Aspects provides a concise, accessible introduction to PLL design. It introduces readers to the role of PLLs in modern communication systems, the fundamental techniques of phase-lock circuitry, and the possible applications of PLLs in a wide variety of electronic communications contexts. The first book of its kind to incorporate modern architectures and to balance theoretical fundamentals with detailed design insights, this promises to be a must-own text for students and industry professionals. The book also features: Coverage of PLL basics with insightful analysis and examples tailored for circuit designers Applications of PLLs for both wireless and wireline systems Practical circuit design aspects for modern frequency generation, frequency modulation, and clock recovery systems Phase-Locked Loops is essential for graduate students and advanced undergraduates in integrated circuit design, as well researchers and engineers in electrical and computing subjects.

Book Enhanced Phase Locked Loop Structures for Power and Energy Applications

Download or read book Enhanced Phase Locked Loop Structures for Power and Energy Applications written by Masoud Karimi-Ghartema and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filling the gap in the market dedicated to PLL structures for power systems Internationally recognized expert Dr. Masoud Karimi-Ghartemani brings over twenty years of experience working with PLL structures to Enhanced Phase-Locked Loop Structures for Power and Energy Applications, the only book on the market specifically dedicated to PLL architectures as they apply to power engineering. As technology has grown and spread to new devices, PLL has increased in significance for power systems and the devices that connect with the power grid. This book discusses the PLL structures that are directly applicable to power systems using simple language, making it easily digestible for a wide audience of engineers, technicians, and graduate students. Enhanced phase-locked loop (EPLL) has become the most widely utilized architecture over the past decade, and many books lack explanation of the structural differences between PLL and EPLL. This book discusses those differences and also provides detailed instructions on using EPLL for both single-phase applications and three-phase applications. The book’s major topics include: A basic look at PLL and its standard structure A full explanation of EPLL EPLL extensions and modifications Digital implementation of EPLL Extensions of EPLL to three-phase structures Dr. Karimi-Ghartemani provides basic analysis that helps readers understand each of the structures presented without requiring complicated mathematical proofs. His book is filled with illustrated examples and simulations that connect theory to the real world, making Enhanced Phase-Locked Loop Structures for Power and Energy Applications an ideal reference for anyone working with inverters, rectifiers, and related technologies.

Book Phase Locked and Frequency Feedback Systems

Download or read book Phase Locked and Frequency Feedback Systems written by Jacob Klapper and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phase-Locked and Frequency-Feedback Systems: Principles and Techniques presents the operating principles and methods of design of phase-locked and frequency-feedback systems. This book is divided into 10 chapters that provide step-by-step design procedures and graphical aids, with illustrations bearing on real problems experienced in these systems. This work specifically tackles the application of these systems as FM demodulators with lowered thresholds. Chapters 1 and 2 deal briefly with the elements of linear systems, feedback theory, and noise, providing the minimum background for the material presented in the remainder of the text. Chapter 3 describes the characteristics of the major components that comprise the loops and the performance of the conventional and multi-loop FM demodulators. Chapters 4 to 7 present the basic describing equations and design for the FM feedback (FMFB) and phase-locked loop (PLL). These chapters further illustrate step-by-step design procedures with performance characteristics for low-threshold angle demodulation using typical design examples. Chapter 8 highlights the design principles, which are extended to the design of advanced demodulators featuring demodulation thresholds lower than those of the simple PLL or FMFB. Chapter 9 focuses on digital FM demodulation and PLL applications other than FM demodulation. Lastly, Chapter 10 presents the methods of testing and evaluating loop performance. Undergraduate and graduate level students, as well as practicing engineers, will find this book invaluable.

Book Supper Low Noise Pll Oscillator and Low Jitter Synthesizer

Download or read book Supper Low Noise Pll Oscillator and Low Jitter Synthesizer written by Han-xiong Lian and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-10-10 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowaday, the supper low noise PLL oscillator and the supper low jitter synthesizer have been used in the worldwide communications system. Where, the former is used for the satellite communications and the latter is used for the cellular phone. The main idea to obtain a supper low noise PLL oscillator is to use a high Q resonator, such as the dielectric resonator, with a suitable phase-locked loop. To design a supper low jitter synthesizer, the best way is to set up a solid background about the synthesizer, which includes: The analogy PLL oscillator (linear analysis and nonlinear analysis), The digital PLL oscillator, using the symbol analysis and the analog PLL analysis, The synthesizer, using the symbol analysis and the sample PLL analysis. Mean while, the digital-hybrid PLL can be used for the 10 Gbit/s data recovery in the 10 Gbit/s optical fiber transponder. This book will provide you all of those information. Meanwhile, provider you the design formulas, design examples and the final schematics. The author have been involved in the design and development of all of those projects above for almost 30 years. Therefore, this book is very clear not only in theoretical analysis but also in experimental.
