Book Performance Analysis of Multi Channel and Multi Traffic on Wireless Communication Networks

Download or read book Performance Analysis of Multi Channel and Multi Traffic on Wireless Communication Networks written by Wuyi Yue and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-02-28 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to present exact and approximate analytical solution methods and techniques using queueing theory in the complex multimedia traffic systems with procedures of random multiple access schemes. In particular, this book presents how to approximate the system performance of discrete-time multimedia networks, the probability distribution of the interarrival time of internetwork packets at the adjacent network and the higher moments of the transmission departure distribution and delay in wireless multimedia communication environment. In general the modeling of discrete-time multimedia communication systems are more complex than that of continuous-time systems because multiple state changes can occur from one time-unit to the next. This complicates the analysis of the model. This book also discusses numerical results that illustrate the applications of the theory and various properties.

Book A Random Access Algorithm for Frequency Hopped Spread Spectrum Packet Radio Networks

Download or read book A Random Access Algorithm for Frequency Hopped Spread Spectrum Packet Radio Networks written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors consider packet radio multi-user spread-spectrum environments, where frequency hopping spread spectrum techniques are deployed for protection against intelligent adversaries. When the users in such environments are mobile and bursty, random access frequency hopping transmission algorithms should be adopted, for efficiency in throughput and delay control. This paper proposes and analyzes such an algorithm, named Collision Resolution Algorithm for Frequency Hopping (CRAFH). The CRAFH is a limited sensing random access algorithm utilizing receiver oriented frequency hopping patterns. In its design, the experience from random access algorithms for non spread spectrum multi-user channels is utilized. Utilizing the regenerative character of the induced by the algorithm transmission process, the authors compute throughputs and expected per packet delays. In the presence of interferences between transmissions to different receivers, we compute throughputs, subject to an upper bound on the probability of erroneous data decoding. The CRAFH induces uniformly good delays within its stability region, and is particularly appropriate for environments where the users are highly mobile.

Book Performance Evaluation of Channel Access Schemes in Multihop Packet Radio Networks with Regular Structure by Simulation

Download or read book Performance Evaluation of Channel Access Schemes in Multihop Packet Radio Networks with Regular Structure by Simulation written by Fouad A. Tobagi and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, the performance of various channel access schemes in multi-hop packet radio networks with a regular structure is studied by means of simulation. The channel access schemes considered are: ALOHA (pure and slotted), Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA), Busy Tone Multiple Access (BTMA), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), and a new hypothetical scheme introduced here for comparison purposes referred to as Coded Activity Signalling Multiple Access (CASMA. Network throughput and packet delay are evaluated, as well as the effects on performance of the nodal transmission scheduling rate, the propagation delay among nodes, and to some extent the input flow control. In this study, we consider networks in which both the topology and the traffic pattern are symmetric. This renders all nodes in the network statistically identical, and thus helps reduce the complexity of the simulation task considerably without jeopardizing the objective. The performance of CSMA in such networks is shown to be rather poor as compared with its performance in fully connected networks, while relatively high performance is achieved by the CASMA scheme, as compared with CSMA and the ALOHA schemes. Book Voice over IP Networks

Download or read book Voice over IP Networks written by Pramode K. Verma and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-01-12 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses three important issues in VoIP networks: Quality of Service, pricing and security. In addressing Quality of Service (QoS), it introduces the notion of delay not exceeding an upper limit, termed the bounded delay, to measure the Quality of Service in VoIP networks. Queuing models are introduced to measure performance in terms of bounded delays. Closed form solutions relating the impact of bounding delays on throughput of VoIP traffic are provided. Traffic that exceeds the delay threshold is treated as lost throughput. The results addressed can be used in scaling resources in a VoIP network for different thresholds of acceptable delays. Both single and multiple switching points are addressed. The same notion and analysis are also applied on jitter, another important indicator of the VoIP QoS This book also develops a pricing model based on the Quality of Service provided in VoIP networks. It presents the impact of quality of VoIP service demanded by the customer on the transmission resources required by the network using an analytical approach. In addition, it extends and applies the delay throughput analysis developed for VoIP networks in assessing the impact of risks constituted by a number of transportation channels, where the risk associated with each channel can be quantified by a known distribution. Finally, the book explores areas for future research that can be built on the foundation of research presented.

Book Collision Avoidance Techniques for Packet radio Networks

Download or read book Collision Avoidance Techniques for Packet radio Networks written by Chane Lee Fullmer and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medium access control for devices that share a particular medium is a fundamental problem in communications networks. We present a new protocol for medium access control called floor acquisition multiple access (FAMA). Floor acquisition protocols guarantee data packets are received without collisions from other packets. We present FAMA protocols for both single and multiple channel devices operating in ad-hoc packet radio networks. We present analytical and simulation results for FAMA protocols.
