Cette nouvelle ingénierie de la formation s'est développée avec l'arrivée des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication (TIC) dans le champ de l'éducation et de la formation. Reposant sur un ensemble de modalités pédagogique en présence et à distance, elle s'inscrit dans le processus d'autonomisation de l'apprenant. L'auteure s'intéresse à la question de l'autoformation du sujet dans le dispositif de FOAD et interroge le rôle et la place de l'accompagnement dans le processus de formation. Après une exploration contextuelle situant le cadre de la recherche, l'auteur propose une étude conceptuelle orientée sur la FOAD, l'autoformation, l'apprentissage expérientiel et l'accompagnement. L'enquête terrain menée auprès de cinq acteurs de la formation aux fonctions différentes enrichit de façon pragmatique la recherche. L'ensemble des concepts étudiés et des données recueillies apportent des éléments de résultats quant à la place de l'accompagnement dans le dispositif de FOAD : un espace de réappropriation de l'expérience comme support d'autoformation.

Book excerpt: This striking study of the meaning and use of the major spatial prepositions in French provides valuable insight into how the human mind organizes spatial relationships. Most previous analyses of spatial prepositions have assumed that their semantic properties can be adequately explained by familiar logical and geometrical concepts. Thus, the standard view of the preposition "in" as it appears in the sentence "the ball is in the bag" postulates that it refers to the geometrical relation of inclusion. This paradigm, however, falters when faced with the contrast in acceptability between sentences such as "the bulb is in the socket" and "the bottle is in the cap." The force exerted by the "landmark" (a conceptually fixed object) on the "target" (a moveable object) is crucial in this difference: the functional notion of containment seems more operational in the use of the preposition "in" than inclusion. That is, what are taken to be the landmark and the target depend greatly on the functions these objects serve in the human scheme. This offers important clues to otherwise problematic linguistic quirks, such as why one sleeps in one's bed, while one is said to lie on one's deathbed. While many of the examples apply in English as well as French, there are some noteworthy differences—in French one sits on a chair, but in a couch. Vandeloise convincingly argues that it is precisely this subjective element which makes a standard geometrical account unfeasible.

Building on the literature in economics and geography, this book demonstrates that product innovation clusters spatially in regions which provide concentrations of the knowledge needed for the commercialization process. The book develops a conceptual model which links the location of new product innovations to the sources of these knowledge inputs. The geographic concentration of this knowledge fonns a technological infrastructure which promotes infonnation transfers, and lowers the risks and the costs of engaging in innovative activity. Empirical estimation confinns that the location of product innovation is related to the underlying technological infrastructure, and that the location of the knowledge inputs are mutually reinforcing in defining a region's competitive advantage. The book concludes by considering the policy implications of these fmdings for both private finns and state governments.
