Book excerpt: L'OBJECTIF DE CE TRAVAIL EST D'ETUDIER, DE MANIERE GLOBALE, LA STRUCTURE DES PEUPLEMENTS PISCICOLES DES LACS NATURELS ET RETENUES ARTIFICIELLES FRANCAIS, EN RELATION AVEC LES FACTEURS ENVIRONNEMENTAUX ET ANTHROPIQUES. LE MANQUE DE CONNAISSANCE DES ICHTYOCENOSES EN MILIEUX LENTIQUES, EST APPARU COMME L'UN DES OBSTACLES MAJEURS A LA MISE EN PLACE DE PROTOCOLES DE GESTION PISCICOLE RAISONNES. CETTE GESTION DOIT REPONDRE A UNE DEMANDE CROISSANTE DE L'ACTIVITE HALIEUTIQUE EN EAU DOUCE. UNE ENQUETE NATIONALE EFFECTUEE AUPRES DES GESTIONNAIRES A PERMIS D'EVALUER LES MODES DE GESTION APPLIQUES AUX PLANS D'EAU. SON EXPLOITATION SOULIGNE LE BESOIN DE CONNAISSANCE SUR CES MILIEUX. ELLE MONTRE AUSSI L'IMPORTANCE DES DEVERSEMENTS DE POISSONS, EN PARTICULIER EN LACS NATURELS. LES ABONDANCES RELATIVES ISSUES DES INVENTAIRES PISCICOLES SCIENTIFIQUES DE 98 PLANS D'EAU FRANCAIS (55 LACS NATURELS ET 43 RETENUES ARTIFICIELLES) ONT ETE ETUDIEES PAR ANALYSES FACTORIELLES (AFC). LES RESULTATS ONT MIS EN EVIDENCE UNE DISTINCTION NETTE ENTRE LES PLANS D'EAU D'ALTITUDE (>1500 M) ET LES RETENUES ET LACS NATURELS DE PLAINE (

Book Gestion piscicole des grands plans d eau

Download or read book Gestion piscicole des grands plans d eau written by Daniel Gerdeaux and published by Manni Editori. This book was released on 2001 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Conservation of Endangered Freshwater Fish in Europe

Download or read book Conservation of Endangered Freshwater Fish in Europe written by Arthur Kirchhofer and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two events have recently improved the prospects of protecting fish and their environment in Switzerland: the acceptance of a new Federal Water Protection Law in the plebiscite of May 17th 1992, and the new Federal Legislation on Fisheries, in force since January 1st 1994. With this legal framework, the possibilities for protection of nature and landscape have now considerably improved in Switzerland. The most important aims of the Federal Law on Water Protection are to safeguard the natural habitats of the native flora and fauna and water as the habitat of aquatic organisms. This includes not only the preservation or restoration of water quality in lakes and rivers, but also, in rivers used for hydroelectricity, irrigation or as industrial or other water supplies, the maintenance of sufficient water to fulfill the minimal requirements for fish. However, good quality water in sufficient quan tities alone is not enough to guarantee the survival of fish. Intact fish habitats comprise various phYsical structures including plenty of hiding places, hunting grounds, reproduction and nursery areas within suitable distances from each other. This third aspect of conservation and restoration of aquatic habitats is a central point in the new Federal Law on Fisheries. Whereas the former versions of this law were more concerned with fishery regulations, the recent legislation defines new areas of responsibility for the federal and the cantonal governments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leonard C. Beadle In contrast to the more sta bie oceans, inland waters are, on the geological time scale, short-lived and are subject to great fluctuations in chemical composition and physical features. Very few lakes and rivers have existed continuously for more than a million years, and the life of the majority is to be measured in thousands or less. Earth movements, erosion and long-term climatic changes in the past have caused many of them to appear and disappear. No wonder then that most freshwater organism are especially adapted to great changes and many even to temporary extinction of their environment. Recent studies of residual sediments from existing and extinct lakes in tropical Africa have told us much about their age and the past history of their faunas and floras, from which we may deduce something about the climate and the conditions in the water in the past. The forces that have formed and moulded the African Great Lakes have been catastrophic in their violence and effects. They are not yet finished, but the present rate of change is, in human terms, too slow for direct observation of the ecological effects. The large man-made lakes are providing very good opportunities for studying the chemi cal and biological consequences of the initial filling but, once filled, they are artificially protected against major fluctuations.
