Book excerpt: L'objectif de la thèse est la mise au point d'un méthode simple de détermination simultanée des trois propriétés hydrodynamiques essentielles des sols déformables (la courbe de rétention, la courbe de conductivité hydraulique et la courbe de déformation). Une méthode inverse est utilisée pour déterminer les deux premières relations. Pour cela, nous proposons un modèle de transfert de l'eau original qui tient compte de la déformation tridimensionnelle et anisotrope du sol. Nous avons utilisé deux expériences qui permettent de déterminer la courbe de déformation par mesure de déformation linéaire du sol et qui sont basées sur un processus d'évaporation pour la première et un processus de drainage pour la seconde. Le second dispositif est également associé à une méthode de caractérisation directe. Les différentes méthodes appliquées à des échantillons de vertisol fournissent des relations caractéristiques très similaires. Une analyse de sensibilité à la déformation montre que le modèle de transfert d'eau et la méthode inverse ne sont pas sensibles à la déformation dans des sols peu déformables comme les vertisols mais le sont dans des sols à bentonite très déformables.
