Book Methodologies For The Conception Design And Application Of Soft Computing Proceedings Of The 5th International Conference On Soft Computing And Information intelligent Systems In 2 Volumes

Download or read book Methodologies For The Conception Design And Application Of Soft Computing Proceedings Of The 5th International Conference On Soft Computing And Information intelligent Systems In 2 Volumes written by Gen Matsumoto and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-08-25 with total page 1119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft computing is the common name for a certain form of natural information processing that has its original form in biology, especially in the function of human brain. It is a discipline rooted in a group of technologies such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, chaos, genetic algorithms, probabilistic reasoning and learning algorithms. Today, soft computing has become an acknowledged concept; however, for a long time, such components of soft computing have been debated and individually developed.Since its beginning in 1990, the series of IIZUKA conferences has covered various kinds of technologies that constitute soft computing. This series has played a pioneering role in promoting the development of a symbiotic relationship between the various technologies of soft computing. At IIZUKA'98, the 5th International Conference on Soft Computing and Information/Intelligent Systems, new developments and results in this field were introduced and discussed by researchers from academic, governmental and industrial institutions around the world. This volume presents the opening lecture by Prof. Walter J Freeman, the keynote speech by Dr Gen Matsumoto, the plenary lectures by 5 eminent researchers and about 230 carefully selected papers drawn from more than 25 countries. It documents current research and in-depth studies on the fundamental aspects of soft computing and their practical applications.

Book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits

Download or read book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits written by Anant Agarwal and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-07-01 with total page 1009 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike books currently on the market, this book attempts to satisfy two goals: combine circuits and electronics into a single, unified treatment, and establish a strong connection with the contemporary world of digital systems. It will introduce a new way of looking not only at the treatment of circuits, but also at the treatment of introductory coursework in engineering in general. Using the concept of ''abstraction,'' the book attempts to form a bridge between the world of physics and the world of large computer systems. In particular, it attempts to unify electrical engineering and computer science as the art of creating and exploiting successive abstractions to manage the complexity of building useful electrical systems. Computer systems are simply one type of electrical systems. +Balances circuits theory with practical digital electronics applications.+Illustrates concepts with real devices.+Supports the popular circuits and electronics course on the MIT OpenCourse Ware from which professionals worldwide study this new approach.+Written by two educators well known for their innovative teaching and research and their collaboration with industry.+Focuses on contemporary MOS technology.

Book Trends in Control and Measurement Education

Download or read book Trends in Control and Measurement Education written by D.P. Atherton and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the published Proceedings of selected papers from the IFAC Symposium, Swansea, 11-13 July 1988, where a forum was provided for discussion of the latest advances and techniques in the education of control and instrument engineers. Seven major topics were covered to aid lecturers in understanding, developing and presenting systems engineering - control and measurement - as a subject to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The teaching of real-time computer control as a topic and laboratory experiments for both continuous and discrete systems were discussed, as was process control, with the emphasis on providing the student with engineering experience by using scaled-down equipment which would teach practical skills. Included in the Proceedings are papers on measurement and instrumentation, an area felt to be neglected within academic instruction. The development of software tools for systems design within systems engineering was included, as was the exchange of teaching packages and methods between academics, and the education curriculum of systems engineering within developing countries. These Proceedings will prove to be a useful up-to-date guide and reference source for all lecturers and professors involved in curriculum development and the teaching of control and measurement in systems engineering.

Book Analog VLSI

  • Author : Shih-Chii Liu
  • Publisher : MIT Press
  • Release : 2002
  • ISBN : 9780262122559
  • Pages : 466 pages

Download or read book Analog VLSI written by Shih-Chii Liu and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to the design of analog VLSI circuits. Neuromorphic engineers work to improve the performance of artificial systems through the development of chips and systems that process information collectively using primarily analog circuits. This book presents the central concepts required for the creative and successful design of analog VLSI circuits. The discussion is weighted toward novel circuits that emulate natural signal processing. Unlike most circuits in commercial or industrial applications, these circuits operate mainly in the subthreshold or weak inversion region. Moreover, their functionality is not limited to linear operations, but also encompasses many interesting nonlinear operations similar to those occurring in natural systems. Topics include device physics, linear and nonlinear circuit forms, translinear circuits, photodetectors, floating-gate devices, noise analysis, and process technology.
