  • Publisher : Independently Published
  • Release : 2020
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 284 pages

Download or read book Fundamentals of Physics written by Alessio Mangoni and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to provide solid bases for the study of physics for the university and it is divided into four parts, each dedicated to a fundamental branch of physics: quantum mechanics, theoretical physics, particle physics and condensed matter physics. In the first part we start with the concept of wave function, until the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. In the second part, after recalling the basic concepts of relativity, we treat the elementary particles and the hadrons, arriving to the notions of scattering and cross section. The third part is dedicated to the theoretical physics, where we analyze the field theory and the concepts of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian, introducing the quantum electrodynamics (QED), passing through the Klein-Gordon, Dirac and Maxwell fields. In the last part of the book we expose the basics of the condensed matter physics, including diffusion and Brownian motion, Drude and Sommerfeld models, the calculation of specific heat and the principal mechanical properties of solids, with references to lattice defects and semiconductors.

Download or read book Financial Calculus written by Martin Baxter and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1996-09-19 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rewards and dangers of speculating in the modern financial markets have come to the fore in recent times with the collapse of banks and bankruptcies of public corporations as a direct result of ill-judged investment. At the same time, individuals are paid huge sums to use their mathematical skills to make well-judged investment decisions. Here now is the first rigorous and accessible account of the mathematics behind the pricing, construction and hedging of derivative securities. Key concepts such as martingales, change of measure, and the Heath-Jarrow-Morton model are described with mathematical precision in a style tailored for market practitioners. Starting from discrete-time hedging on binary trees, continuous-time stock models (including Black-Scholes) are developed. Practicalities are stressed, including examples from stock, currency and interest rate markets, all accompanied by graphical illustrations with realistic data. A full glossary of probabilistic and financial terms is provided. This unique book will be an essential purchase for market practitioners, quantitative analysts, and derivatives traders.

Book Esercizi di Analisi Matematica 1 Geometria e Algebra Lineare

Download or read book Esercizi di Analisi Matematica 1 Geometria e Algebra Lineare written by Gabriele Grillo and published by Società Editrice Esculapio. This book was released on 2022-08-05 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Critique of Pure Reason Annotated Edition

Download or read book Critique of Pure Reason Annotated Edition written by Immanuel Kant and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-12 with total page 723 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Viewed by scholars of philosophy as one of the landmark texts of the Enlightenment era, The Critique of Pure Reason is often a primary text in higher educational courses concerning philosophy. First published in 1781 and revised in 1787, this book is generally agreed to be the masterwork of Immanuel Kant for its embracing scope, and the gargantuan influence it has wrought upon philosophers. In composing his most famous critique, Kant consulted the works of contemporary philosophers such as John Locke and David Hume. Their work, which discusses the extent to which human beings can perceive and utilise knowledge, forms the grounding for many of Kant's arguments. Kant divides knowledge into two broad categories - the analytic judgement and the synthetic judgement. This analytic-synthetic distinction is a cornerstone of his work; an analytic judgement being one which holds truth by virtue of its very meaning; and a synthetic judgement being true owing to how it relates to the world around it. Kant discusses at length the means through which humans may theoretically acquire knowledge, despite having not personally observed or experienced the phenomena to which such knowledge relates. The processes by which a reliable body of knowledge is formed by human perception and induction is central to much of the Critique.

Book The Legacy of Mario Pieri in Geometry and Arithmetic

Download or read book The Legacy of Mario Pieri in Geometry and Arithmetic written by Elena Anne Marchisotto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-05 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first in a series of three volumes that comprehensively examine Mario Pieri’s life, mathematical work and influence. The book introduces readers to Pieri’s career and his studies in foundations, from both historical and modern viewpoints. Included in this volume are the first English translations, along with analyses, of two of his most important axiomatizations — one in arithmetic and one in geometry. The book combines an engaging exposition, little-known historical notes, exhaustive references and an excellent index. And yet the book requires no specialized experience in mathematical logic or the foundations of geometry.
