Book An Unsteady Long Bearing Squeeze Film Damper Model Part 2

Download or read book An Unsteady Long Bearing Squeeze Film Damper Model Part 2 written by P. A. Schallhorn and published by BiblioGov. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper, the second of a two-part series, presents results of an unsteady rotordynamic analysis of a long-bearing squeeze film damper executing orbits about an off center position using a fluid circuit approach. A series of nodes and branches represent the geometry of the flow circuit. The mass and momentum conservation equations are solved to predict the pressure distribution in the squeeze film. The motion of the bearing is simulated by the variation of geometry within the flow path. This effort represents the first modeling approach which allows for an arbitrary orbit size about an arbitrary position.

Book An Unsteady Long Bearing Squeeze Film Damper Model Part 1

Download or read book An Unsteady Long Bearing Squeeze Film Damper Model Part 1 written by P. A. Schallhorn and published by BiblioGov. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper, the first of a two-part series, presents results of an unsteady rotordynamic analysis of a long-bearing squeeze film damper executing circular centered orbits using a fluid circuit approach. A series of nodes and branches represent the geometry of the flow circuit. The mass and momentum conservation equations are solved to predict the pressure distribution in the squeeze film. The motion of the bearing is simulated by the variation of geometry within the flow path. The modeling methodology is benchmarked against published experimental long-bearing squeeze film damper test results. The model provides good agreement with the experimental damping coefficient.

Book Squeeze Film Damper Technology

Download or read book Squeeze Film Damper Technology written by J. Walton and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present report this report provides refinements and extensions to the analytical treatment of squeeze film dampers reported in Part I. Specifically, it incorporates the effects of squeeze film dampers cavitation on performance based on short-bearing theory and particularly on the damping properties. The analysis also provides means of a more accurate evaluation of the flow resistance in the feeding holes by taking account of the stagnation pressures at the entrance to the clearance space. With these modifications introduced into the computer program, a parametric study is then conducted on the effects of the many variables on the operation of sealed and unsealed dampers, both hole- and groove-fed. Among the variables considered are clearance, size, eccentricity ratio, supply pressure and system frequency. Conclusions are drawn as to the optimum values of these parameters with regard to best damper performance.
