In 1957 he moved his family to New York where he organized Family Life Ministries, Inc. He led the organization as President and CEO for 47 years and was succeeded by his son Rick. He is married 55 years to Jacqueline DeVere. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. All four children are active in their church and serving the Lord. Dick is just an ordinary guy. What you see is what you get. He reveals some of the good, bad, and ugly times as he candidly tells of his life experiences in this book.

The book begins just before Ernest received Jesus as his Lord and Savior and continues showing how, through His Word, the author received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, learned to walk in the Spirit, witnessed about God to others, prayed the prayer of faith for healing, cast out demons, and did other works of God. His walk with God and how he grew in faith is shared chronologically in the book. Now he could understand the groaning of the spirit within a Christian for the day of redemption when he would enter God's presence and be with Jesus for eternity.

Reminding you that you are a child of the King, you were born for a purpose, and you belong in a palace. Take my testimonies and hold onto them. Begin to phophesy the same victories into your life too. The same God who is in me is in you. What God has made available to me is also available to you. He has no favourites, but He does respond to faith. So, take him at His word and hold onto Him and when you feel like backing down, giving up or hiding away from life. Remind yourself that He is Good and He is God. He is for you and not against you. Have faith in God, He's got you and will never let go of you. So, go ahead and take a look at this book.
