El contenido de este libro constituye el núcleo teórico de la disciplina porque permite a los estudiantes el análisis de circuitos alimentados con corriente directa, de cualquier complejidad, utilizando las diferentes herramientas que se les proporcionan. El libro ha sido elaborado a partir de la experiencia docente de sus autores y recurriendo a la bibliografía orientada en el plan de estudios, la cual ha sido enriquecida con otros textos actualizados. En cada uno de los capítulos del libro se presentan un conjunto de ejercicios resueltos y propuestos, lo que proporcionará a los estudiantes la posibilidad de entrenarse en el análisis de circuitos eléctricos. En el caso de los ejercicios resueltos aparece su solución total o parcial empleando el lenguaje de programación MATLAB, lo que consolida y profundiza los conocimientos recibidos por los estudiantes en las asignaturas relacionadas con este lenguaje, al vincular su empleo en el análisis y diseño de los circuitos eléctricos; aunque los autores quieren dejar claro que la ingeniería asistida por computadoras debe verse solo como una ayuda y no como un sustituto de la habilidad que debe caracterizar a un ingeniero para resolver problemas. En el caso de los ejercicios propuestos, se brinda la respuesta para que pueda verificarse el resultado obtenido. El libro se ha estructurado en diez capítulos. El primero de ellos se ha introducido para recordar o profundizar sobre la notación científica y el sistema internacional de unidades, contenidos de gran utilidad para la solución adecuada de los problemas que se presentan en la vida cotidiana del ingeniero.
