The B physics is one of the most exciting and rich field in today's world of particle physics to test the Standard Model and to explore the new physics. One of the most mysterious phenomena in particle physics that remains unresolved for a long time is the CP violation which is directly related to matter-antimatter asymmetry. Until recently, the CP violation was seen only in K\bar K system and it was expected to be significantly large in B\bar B system. In the summer of 2001 the presence of CP violation in the B meson system was established by the Belle collaboration (and simultaneously by the BaBar collaboration) through the measurement of time dependent asymmetry in the decay of B0 (B0 ) J/ Ks. This work lead to the Nobel Prize for Cabibbo, Kobayashi and Maskawa in 2008."

Today, however, everything we see, is made almost entirely of matter. A fundamental ingredient to explain this asymmetry between matter and antimatter is the violation of the CP (Charge Parity) symmetry. CP violation has been observed but quantitatively not enough to explain the huge asymmetry. The Belle II experiment in Japan studies the particles produced in electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB collider, the highest intensity collider in the World, allowing a high precision measurements of the known sources of CP violation and looking for new ones. In my PhD, I worked on measuring the CP violation in B meson radiative decays (decays with photon in final state) particularly promising thanks to their high sensitivity to possible new processes. Following this analysis, I started a new measurement of the B mesons lifetime where I could verify the robustness of the tools used in the CP violation measurement.

Book excerpt: A study of B-meson decays to final states with a single charm baryon is presented based on data recorded by the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Although the B meson is the lightest bottom-flavored meson, it is heavy enough to decay to a baryon made of three quarks and an antibaryon made of three antiquarks. By studying the baryonic weak decays of the B meson, we can investigate baryon production mechanisms in heavy meson decays. In particular, we measure the rates of the decays B- → [Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$[pi]- and $\bar{B}$0 → [Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$. Comparing these rates, we confirm an observed trend in baryonic B decays that the decay with the lower energy release, B- → [Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$[pi]-, is favored over $\bar{B}$0 → [Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$. The dynamics of the baryon-antibaryon ([Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$) system in the three-body decay also provide insight into baryon-antibaryon production mechanisms. The B- → [Lambda]+c$\bar{p}$[pi]- system is a laboratory for searches for excited #c baryon states; we observe the resonant decays B- → [Sigma]c(2455) 0$\bar{p}$ and B- → [Sigma]c(2800) 0$\bar{p}$. This is the first observation of the decay B- → [Sigma]c(2800) 0$\bar{p}$; however, the mass of the observed #c(2800)0 state is inconsistent with previous measurements. Finally, we examine the angular distribution of the B- → [Sigma]c(2455) 0$\bar{p}$ decays and measure the spin of the B- → [Sigma]c(2455) 0$\bar{p}$ baryon to be J = 1/2, as predicted by the quark model.
