Download or read book Marine Simulation and Ship Manoeuvrability written by M.S. Chislett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-10-01 with total page 660 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real-time, interactive ship simulators limped onto the scene, in the wake of flight simulators, some years ago. The maritime industries have a long history of conservatism, but this is now changing rapidly. The information age has also swept over ships and shipping, and has been taken to heart to such an extent that, for example, flight simulators now cooperate with ship simulators and import useful new concepts and methodologies. The more than 50 papers contained in this book show what and why. Although traditionally conservative, the marine world is also traditionally international and this has not changed. The papers in the book are by leading authors from all over the world and provide a detailed snap-shot of the rapidly advancing state-of-the-art, together with pointers to the future. The overall theme of MARSIM '96 and therefore also of this book is: Vessel manouevrability and marine simulation research, training and assessment, and includes original papers on topics such as bridge resource management, distant learning and simulators coupled via The Internet, virtual reality, neural networks, rudder-propeller hydrodynamics, prime mover models, squat in shallow water, and many more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to Bavaria - Germany and to the First Intercontinental Maritime Simulation Symposium and Mathematical Modelling Workshop. A triennial international conference jointly pro moted by Control Data, IMSF and SCS, which takes place at Schliersee, a small town near the Alps. The aim of the Symposium is to cover most of the aspects of maritime modelling and simulation in theory and practice, to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between dif ferent international research groups in this field, and to strengthen the international contact between developers and users of modelling and simulation techniques. On the occas~on of the Symposium people of scientific and engineering disciplines will meet to discuss the state-of-the art and future activities and developments. A large number of contributed papers has been strictly exam ined and selected by the papers committee to guarantee a high international standard. The book contains the accepted papers which will be presented at the Symposium. The papers have been classified according to the following topics: VI 1. Fifth Generation Computer Technology 2. Simulation-Software-Tools 3. An Industrial Computer System - The Chrysler Story 4. Marine Mathematical Modelling 5. CFD for Marine Vehicles 6. Navigation Methodology 7. Marine Maneuvering and Motion Simulation 8. Off-Shore Modelling 9. Steering and Control of Marine Vehicles 10. Training and Traffic Control 11. Under-Water Vehicles Operation Authors from 9 countries will meet at the Symposium.

Download or read book Marine Technology and Transportation written by T. Graczyk and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 856 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Changes in international trade have had significant effects on the economics of marine transportation, and will continue to do so into the 21st century. This is compounded by the role of technological change and these consequent uncertainties have necessitated a review of advances in marine transportation. Marine technology, particularly the area of ship design, building and operation, is experiencing rapid changes in a more competitive world market. For any industry to remain competitive, it is of the utmost importance that new technologies are not only developed, but rapidly incorporated and put into use.
Download or read book CFD and CAD in Ship Design written by Gerard Oortmerssen and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1990 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the field of hydrodynamics, various methods have been developed for the prediction of calm water resistance and manoeuvring characteristics. These methods range from rather simple empirical methods to very advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In ship design, Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications mainly focus on the description of the geometry of the ship and the calculation of hydrostatic properties. Considerable attention has been given to drawing systems and connectivity to systems for supporting the production process of ships - Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). This volume reviews the rapid advances that have been made in computer applications to ship hydrodynamics and ship design, due to developments in the performance of computer hardware. Special attention is paid to the integration of hydrostatic calculations in ship design software offering new possibilities to ship designers for optimizing the design of ships.
