Book Elevated Termperature Fatigue Properties of D6AC High Strength Steel

Download or read book Elevated Termperature Fatigue Properties of D6AC High Strength Steel written by Sidney O. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A program was conducted to obtain complete stress versus number of cycles (S-N) curves for D6AC steel heat treated to an ultimate strength of 270 KSI. Tension-tension fatigue tests were conducted on notched and unnotched specimens at 75, 450, and 550 F for stress ratios of 1 and infinity. Tensile and stress rupture data were obtained in conjunction with the fatigue data.

Book Elevated Temperature Fatigue Properties of Two Low Alloy Steels

Download or read book Elevated Temperature Fatigue Properties of Two Low Alloy Steels written by C. A. PENROSE and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two low alloy steels, heat treated to yield strengths approximating 175,000 and 150,000 psi, were fatigue tested under rotating beam conditions at temperatures of 70, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 F. The fatigue data is related to the tensile properties at various test temperatures. Temper embrittlement, occurring during the course of fatigue testing and its effect on the fatigue properties, is also demonstrated. For the steels investigated, the elevated temperature tensile properties appear to be good predictors of elevated temperature fatigue behavior. However, the occurrence of a subcritical temperature phenomenon to which the specific steel is susceptible (such as temper embrittlement) will affect the fatigue behavior and destroy its fatigue-tensile relationship. Book Offshore of the Corrosion Fatigue Behaviour of Structural Steels in the Strength Rage 350 900mpa and Associated High Strength Weldments

Download or read book Offshore of the Corrosion Fatigue Behaviour of Structural Steels in the Strength Rage 350 900mpa and Associated High Strength Weldments written by Health And Safety Executive Staff and published by . This book was released on 1998-02-18 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this survey, the fatigue performance for steels in the yield strength range 350-900MPa, expressed in terms of fatigue crack propagagation rate (FCPR), is reveiwed. The influence of environment, seawater, cathodic protection and mechanical loading, load ratio R, test frequency f, are assessed. Comparisons with the behaviour of conventional structural steels, BS4360:50D and higher strength steels are established. Available data for the associated heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal are also reviewed.

Book Comprehensive Nuclear Materials

Download or read book Comprehensive Nuclear Materials written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-07-22 with total page 4871 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials in a nuclear environment are exposed to extreme conditions of radiation, temperature and/or corrosion, and in many cases the combination of these makes the material behavior very different from conventional materials. This is evident for the four major technological challenges the nuclear technology domain is facing currently: (i) long-term operation of existing Generation II nuclear power plants, (ii) the design of the next generation reactors (Generation IV), (iii) the construction of the ITER fusion reactor in Cadarache (France), (iv) and the intermediate and final disposal of nuclear waste. In order to address these challenges, engineers and designers need to know the properties of a wide variety of materials under these conditions and to understand the underlying processes affecting changes in their behavior, in order to assess their performance and to determine the limits of operation. Comprehensive Nuclear Materials, Second Edition, Seven Volume Set provides broad ranging, validated summaries of all the major topics in the field of nuclear material research for fission as well as fusion reactor systems. Attention is given to the fundamental scientific aspects of nuclear materials: fuel and structural materials for fission reactors, waste materials, and materials for fusion reactors. The articles are written at a level that allows undergraduate students to understand the material, while providing active researchers with a ready reference resource of information. Most of the chapters from the first Edition have been revised and updated and a significant number of new topics are covered in completely new material. During the ten years between the two editions, the challenge for applications of nuclear materials has been significantly impacted by world events, public awareness, and technological innovation. Materials play a key role as enablers of new technologies, and we trust that this new edition of Comprehensive Nuclear Materials has captured the key recent developments. Critically reviews the major classes and functions of materials, supporting the selection, assessment, validation and engineering of materials in extreme nuclear environments Comprehensive resource for up-to-date and authoritative information which is not always available elsewhere, even in journals Provides an in-depth treatment of materials modeling and simulation, with a specific focus on nuclear issues Serves as an excellent entry point for students and researchers new to the field
