Book excerpt: The Silent Messenger charts the life of Meher Baba, the Indian spiritual Master who famously declared: “Don’t worry, be happy,” and “I have come not to teach, but to awaken." Meher Baba's life and teachings move through Vedantism, Sufism, Christianity and Buddhism. Uniquely, Baba gave all this to the world whilst remaining silent for 44 years. The Meher Baba Association presents the final book by Sir Tom and Lady Dorothy Hopkinson, which depicts the extraordinary facts of Meher Baba’s life and work, illustrated by judiciously chosen excerpts from his teachings and the insights of many of those who were closest to him.

Book A Bridge to the Master Meher Baba Black and White Edition

Download or read book A Bridge to the Master Meher Baba Black and White Edition written by Oswald Hall and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-03-13 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Bridge to the Master... Meher Baba (Black & White Edition) Paintings & Drawings, Poems & Essays by Oswald Hall Edited & Introduction by Paul Smith Oswald Hall (1917-1991) Oswald Hall was one of the first, if not the first seeker of God to recognize Meher Baba as a Perfect Master and later as the Avatar in Australia. Oswald Hall was a dynamic person who lifted you up with his love and enthusiasm for life and art and poetry and... everything. He seemed to have some knowledge about most things and his description of Meher Baba when Baba came to his house in Eltham in 1956 was the nail that finally hit the head of any doubt I may have had about Baba at that time. For the following twenty years over many late night drinks and smokes we discussed and argued about almost every subject in the universe, but mainly about Baba and the great Sufi poets, wine and painting and culture and our own poetry and writing and his wonderful paintings that filled his house, mainly of Meher Baba (many of these are lost to us today). In his essay on Oswald's paintings Christopher Heathcote states "the pen and ink drawings Hall produced in the period 1944-46 (pages 34-42)... are undoubtedly the most important early Australian surrealist drawings that have come to light in recent years." In my opinion his later paintings related to Meher Baba were of equal importance. His poetry is sometimes quite obscure but is always fascinating and spiritually surrealist as are his paintings... his masterpieces 'The Brood in Exile', 'Intimations of Song' 'The Royal Verge' and many others must be among some of the most important Australian poetry composed in the mid-twentieth century. His essay on Art... 'The Source of Style' and on Meher Baba 'The Bridge to the Master' are more relevant today than they were when they we written around forty years ago. Oswald Hall was an original and his life and works are still with us today in the memories of all who knew him and now in this book for others to know his ideas and inspirations. Paul Smith, from the Introduction. Black & White Edition. 8" X 10" (21 cm X 30 cm). 338 pages.

Book While the World Slept

Download or read book While the World Slept written by Bhau Kalchuri and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2007-10 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhau Kalchuri is an Indian author, poet, trust administrator, and one of Avatar Meher Baba's very close disciples. He is also the principle biographer of Meher Baba's life. Bhau, who holds master's degrees in public administration, law, and chemistry, met Meher Baba in 1952 and joined him permanently in 1953 at the age of 27. He served Baba in various capacities including as his night watchman. In 1973 Bhau became a trustee of the Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust and is currently its chairman. Kalchuri is best known for his exhaustive biography of Meher Baba, Lord Meher, a twenty volume 6,472 page chronicle based on diaries kept by Baba's followers from as early as 1922, as well as recorded interviews. He is also author of Avatar Meher Baba Manifesting and The Nothing and the Everything and has written several plays and books of verse. Bhau writes in Hindi and English. In While the World Slept Bhau Kalchuri recounts stories from his years as Meher Baba's night watchman between 1953-1969. In this short book we get a small peek into a deeply private, often unfathomable side of the Avatar's internal work. Gripping, moving, sometimes outright disturbing, we find the master at work with both Universe and disciple, occurring in the middle of the night, as the world was sleeping.

Book Three Incredible Weeks with Meher Baba

Download or read book Three Incredible Weeks with Meher Baba written by Malcolm Schloss and published by . This book was released on 2021-09 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In September, 1954, twenty Western men had the unique opportunity to spend three weeks in the company of Avatar Meher Baba. It was a chance to participate in the Master's daily life of service to mankind - His mass darshan programs when over 15,000 people came to receive His blessing; to share in His work with the poor, the lepers, and depressed classes; to hear His inimitable spiritual discourses; to be His intimate companion on a day-to-day basis; to receive His personal attention, love and guidance in their own lives. At Meher Baba's behest, a diary of these "three incredible weeks" was kept by two devotees, Malcolm Schloss, mystic poet, and Charles B. Purdom, noted English editor and writer. First published in the pages of The Awakener Magazine, the diary is reprinted here in its entirety together with reminiscenses of other devotees who attended. This intimate glimpse of how a genuine Master works will inspire anyone struggling to match up spiritual understanding with daily life.
