Book A Silent Speech Interface using Electro Optical Stomatography

Download or read book A Silent Speech Interface using Electro Optical Stomatography written by Simon Stone and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-11-02 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speech technology is a major and growing industry that enriches the lives of technologically-minded people in a number of ways. Many potential users are, however, excluded: Namely, all speakers who cannot easily, or even at all, produce speech. Silent-Speech Interfaces offer a way to communicate with a machine through a convenient speech recognition interface without the need for acoustic speech. To that end, the speech movements need to be captured and mapped to either text or acoustic speech. This dissertation proposes a new Silent-Speech Interface based on a newly developed measurement technology called Electro-Optical Stomatography and a novel parametric vocal tract model to facilitate real-time speech synthesis based on the measured data. The hardware was used to conduct command word recognition studies reaching state-of-the-art intra- and inter-individual performance. Furthermore, a study on using the hardware to control the vocal tract model in a direct articulationto- speech synthesis loop was also completed. While the intelligibility of consonants and connected speech was quite poor, the intelligibility of synthesized vowels was high. Promising ways to improve the system are discussed in the outlook.

Book Silent Speech Interface

Download or read book Silent Speech Interface written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2023-07-06 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Is Silent Speech Interface The term "silent speech interface" refers to a technology that enables communication through speech without the need of the sound that is produced when humans vocalize their speech sounds. In this sense, it can be thought of as a form of electronic lip reading. The computer is able to determine the phonemes that a person pronounces based on information about their speech motions and other non-auditory sources of information about those movements. After that, speech synthesis is utilized to reproduce the speech based on these components. How You Will Benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Silent Speech Interface Chapter 2: Speech Synthesis Chapter 3: Brain-computer Interface Chapter 4: Electromyography Chapter 5: Subvocalization Chapter 6: Gesture Recognition Chapter 7: Subvocal Recognition Chapter 8: Electroencephalography Chapter 9: Facial Electromyography Chapter 10: AlterEgo (II) Answering the public top questions about silent speech interface. Book Advancing Electromyographic Continuous Speech Recognition Signal Preprocessing and Modeling

Download or read book Advancing Electromyographic Continuous Speech Recognition Signal Preprocessing and Modeling written by Wand, Michael and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speech is the natural medium of human communication, but audible speech can be overheard by bystanders and excludes speech-disabled people. This work presents a speech recognizer based on surface electromyography, where electric potentials of the facial muscles are captured by surface electrodes, allowing speech to be processed nonacoustically. A system which was state-of-the-art at the beginning of this book is substantially improved in terms of accuracy, flexibility, and robustness.

Book Computers Helping People with Special Needs Part I

Download or read book Computers Helping People with Special Needs Part I written by Klaus Miesenberger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-06-28 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the Proceedings of ICCHP 2010! We were proud to welcome participants from more than 40 countries from all over the world to this year’s ICCHP. Since the late 1980s, it has been ICCHP’s mission to support and reflect development in the field of “Assistive Technologies,” eAccessibility and eInclusion. With a focus on scientific quality, ICCHP has become an important reference in our field. The 2010 conference and this collection of papers once again fulfilled this mission. The International Programme Committee, comprising 106 experts from all over the world, selected 147 full and 44 short papers out of 328 abstracts submitted to ICCHP. This acceptance ratio of about half of the submissions demonstrates our strict pursuit of scientific quality both of the programme and in particular of the proceedings in your hands. An impressive number of experts agreed to organize “Special Thematic Sessions” (STS) for ICCHP 2010. These STS help to bring the meeting into sharper focus in several key areas. In turn, this deeper level of focus helps to collate a state of the art and mainstream technical, social, cultural and political developments.
