Book Microtunnelling

Download or read book Microtunnelling written by Dietrich Stein and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1989-10-25 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed as a fundamental source of information on the installation and renewal of non-man-size supply and sewage lines by the trenchless construction method, this book describes non-steerable and steerable microtunnelling systems, their ranges of application and relevant operational experience. The text is supplemented by numerous photographs, outline drawings, tables and charts. In-depth knowledge is given on the subjects of design and operation of different types of soil removal systems, measuring and steering techniques, construction of starting and target pits, as well as obstruction removal. Moreover, the presentations cover the special jacking pipes required for microtunnelling, and provide detailed information regarding the relevant stress and strain analyses. It is shown how the trenchless construction method can be used for marking service house connections, and that there are new ways to link up house service lines with shafts or sewers. A comprehensive bibliography rounds off the text

Book Technology Standard of Pipe Jacking

Download or read book Technology Standard of Pipe Jacking written by Lu Wang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-24 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the technical method and construction process of pipe jacking. It has a total of 17 chapters and one appendix. It includes how to prepare the pipe jacking construction, how to choose the pipe and equipment for jacking, how to choose the engineering environment, how to do the geological survey before jacking, how to design the working pit, what's the procedure of pipe jacking, how to do the measurement and monitoring during jacking, how to do the treatment and acceptance after jacking, and so on. Appendix contains reference tables for pipe jacking archives, which might aid readers in understanding the book's content. This book's language is simple to read, and it has a wealth of graphics. Even those without a foundational understanding of pipe jacking could read and comprehend it with ease. This regulation could be the fundamental discipline for pipeline jacking projects. It is the important basis and criterion for the design, construction, management, inspection, and acceptance of pipeline jacking.

Book Standard Construction Guidelines for Microtunneling

Download or read book Standard Construction Guidelines for Microtunneling written by and published by Amer Society of Civil Engineers. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Standard Guideline covers the planning, design, pipe materials, and construction of microtunneling. Microtunneling is defined as a trenchless construction method for installing pipelines. The North American definition of microtunneling describes a method and does not impose size limitations on that method. The tunnel may be considered a microtunnel if all of the following features apply to construction: the microtunneling boring machine is remote controlled, a laser guidance system is employed, a jacking system is used for thrust, and continuous pressure is provided to the face of the excavation to balance groundwater and earth pressures. This Standard Guideline is a vital reference for owners, engineers, contractors, and construction managers.

Book Sustainable Pipe Jacking Technology in the Urban Environment

Download or read book Sustainable Pipe Jacking Technology in the Urban Environment written by Dominic Ek Leong Ong and published by Springer. This book was released on 2023-03-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights recent advancements and innovations in trenchless technology via the adoption of combined micro-tunnelling and pipe-jacking techniques. This technique is more environmentally friendly, cost effective, less time-consuming and less disruptive compared to conventional open trench excavations for urban construction and urban infrastructure renewal projects. Pipe jacking is a non-destructive technique used in the installation of underground pipelines using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) and thrust forces derived from the hydraulic jack set-up in a deep jacking shaft. It is popular and commonly used worldwide for the installation of sewer and common services cable tunnels as well as for oil and gas pipelines.

Book An Introduction to Trenchless Technology

Download or read book An Introduction to Trenchless Technology written by Steven R. Kramer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past decade, the field of trenchless technology has expanded rapidly in products, equipment, and utilization. This expansion would not have occurred without a strong increase ineconomic incentives to the user. Because theoperating environment has changed, trenchless technology is often the preferred alternative to traditional methods of digging holes and installing conduits. The infrastructure in which we live has become more congested and has to beshared by several users. In addition, the cost of restoring a road or landscaped area after construction may be higher than the cost of installing the conduit. These factors add to the need for trenchless technology-the ability to dig holes without disturbing the surface. In some ways, trenchless technology is a futuristic concept. Ruth Krauss in a children'sbookofdefinitions wrote,"AHole...Is to Dig." But thisstatement is not necessarily true. Today, a hole could be to bore. Trenchless technology is not new. But it certainly has become the buzzword of the construction industry and it appears that it will have a growing impact in the way contractors, utilities, and others install new facilities. Methods to bore horizontal holes were practiced as early as the 18005, but this technology has greatly changed. Today's tools include sophisticated drilling methods, state-of the-art power systems, and electronic guidance techniques. These tools can bore faster, safer, and more accurately, and in many instances more economically, than open-cllt methods. Technology has played an important role in these advances, but economics has become the driving force in making these systems popular.
