Book Introduction to Economics Classic Reprint

Download or read book Introduction to Economics Classic Reprint written by John Roscoe Turner and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Economics This book is an outgrowth of classroom discussions. It contains in substance the talks on economics which have been made, for the past eleven years, to my Classes in Cornell and New York Universities. NO apology is offered for the fact that this volume is limited to a discussion of principles. Even the concluding chapters on corporations are designed to exemplify princi ples. The time has long since passed when a single volume can treat exhaustively the whole field of economics. I shall be more than content if this work justifies the scope indicated for it in the title - Introduction to Economics. Designed as an introduction, this book will serve as a means to the end of a more intelligent study of economic questions. It does not dispense with the necessity of read ing the many excellent treatises devoted to the different phases of economics; rather it distinctly calls for such read ings. It merely prepares the mind of the student for the thought contained in the more advanced and specialized works on the subject and the practical applications they reveal. This book was released on 2018-02-14 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Manual to an Introduction to Economics The object of this chapter is to explain the nature and. Scope of the subject and the method by which it may be studied. Too much stress should not be laid on the method of mathematical logic treated in the passage describing the syllogism. If a course in logic is given in the school an opportunity for correlation will be presented, but otherwise the bare idea of the method is all that is necessary. The essential points are, the meaning of the term economic law, and the relation of economics to other social and physical sciences. Book Classical Economics Reconsidered

Download or read book Classical Economics Reconsidered written by Thomas Sowell and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 1994 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reconsideration of the macroeconomics, microeconomics, methodology, and social philosophy of the classical economists has been a small gem on the history of economic thought, written in a way accessible to students, while having much to teach scholars. The reissue of this book twenty years after its original publication is a tribute to the enduring relevance of the questions raised during the formative period of economics and to the skill with which the author analyzes them.

Book Economics an Introduction for the General Reader Classic Reprint

Download or read book Economics an Introduction for the General Reader Classic Reprint written by Henry Clay and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Economics an Introduction for the General Reader AN apology is needed for adding another to the large num ber of books that attempt to' deal with the whole subject matter of Economics in a single volume. I offer two pleas in extenuation. The first is that nearly all existing introduc tions to the subject are intended primarily for the University student. The pious wish is generally expressed that they may be of use also to the general reader; but the general reader's special needs and opportunities are seldom borne in mind. His needs are different, inasmuch as he has not the guidance of a teacher and the leisure of the student; on the other hand, his opportunities are some compensation for these disadvan tages, since he has usually a practical interest in the economic system and an experience of its working, which the academic student lacks. It seemed, therefore, worth while to try to do for the economic organization as a whole what Bagehot and Mr. Hartley Withers have done for a part of it, the credit system to explain the principles of its construction and working in the language of ordinary life, and with reference to the experience and interests of the ordinary man. While it would need a Bagehot to succeed, I hope that the mere attempt will have done something to make it easier for the general reader to perceive the bearing of economic studies on the political and social problems in which he is interested. Book Economic Performance

Download or read book Economic Performance written by Henry Hilgard Villard and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-05 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Economic Performance: An Introduction to Economics Section III utilizes the material, revised and brought up to date, which previously appeared as Economic Development.1 In it I acknowledged my unusually large debt to other economists, so that I shall not repeat my thanks for the generous help that I have received. But I must again men tion my increasing indebtedness to the Economics Department of City College, which continues to have my developing ideas inflicted upon them on all possible occasions. So many in the Department have helped in so many ways that it would be quite unfair at this time to single anyone out for special thanks with the exception of Elliot Zupnick, who has worked closely with me for the last year or so, commenting on the entire manu script, attending to a great many details, and providing substantial drafts of the two Appendices (though the final responsibility for them is, of course, mine). The contribution of my wife, no economist but a remarkable editor, has steadily increased. In fact, in all fairness I must this time confess that, were it not for her help, this volume would have been infinitely less comprehensible and have appeared far less rapidly. Book Descriptive Economics

Download or read book Descriptive Economics written by Louis Lafayette Williams and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2019-01-13 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Descriptive Economics: An Introduction to Economic Science The work is a wide departure from the ordinary plan of most elementary works on Political Economy, or, as it is preferably called, Economics. These works generally commence with an abstract discussion of wealth or value. In the following pages the terms wealth and value are nowhere used in a technical sense, and the same is true of most of the technical terms of Economics. At the same time, however, the theories to which these terms give rise, are indirectly discussed and all the well known propositions of Economics are clearly and fully set forth. It is hoped that the student and reader will find here the collection of economic phenomena, classified and arranged as required for the more abstract reasoning and generalizations relating to the higher branches of the subject.
