Book Computer Aided Process Planning CAPP

Download or read book Computer Aided Process Planning CAPP written by Architecture Technology Architecture Technology Corpor and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please note this is a Short Discount publication. Process planning involves creating detailed plans of the manufacturing steps and equipment necessary to produce a finished part. Using the variant method, CAPP groups families of parts by a structured classification and coding plan. This report summarizes the state–of–the–art and future trends in the area of CAPP. The computer is a vital part of the process planning function, which includes two different approaches. One is called the variant (similar part) method of process planning and the other is generative (expert system–based). Both will produce similar process plans. Most computer applications, however, are of the variant type, because the software is easier to develop and new process plans are based on previous ones.

Book Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Download or read book Computer Integrated Manufacturing written by Kiyoji Asai and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Current state of expectations is that Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) will ulti mately determine the industrial growth of world nations within the next few decades. Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), Robotics together with Knowledge and Information Based Systems (KIBS) and Com munication Networks are expected to develop to a mature state to respond effectively to the managerial requirements of the factories of the future that are becoming highly integrated and complex. CIM represents a new production approach which will allow the factories to deliver a high variety of products at a low cost and with short production cycles. The new technologies for CIM are needed to develop manufacturing environments that are smarter, faster, close-cou pled, integrated, optimized, and flexible. Sophistication and a high degree of specialization in materials science, artificial intelligence, communications technology and knowledge-information science techniques are needed among others for the development of realizable and workable CIM systems that are capable of adjusting to volatile markets. CIM factories are to allow the production of a wide variety of similar products in small batches through standard but multi mission oriented designs that accommodate flexibility with specialized software.

Book Computerized Manufacturing Process Planning Systems

Download or read book Computerized Manufacturing Process Planning Systems written by Hong-Chao Zhang and published by Springer. This book was released on 1993-11-30 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rapid development of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) is becoming incresingly important since it plays a key role in CIM. This book systematically discusses process planning and how to implement computerized process planning systems. In essence, the aim of the book is to provide a comprehensive review of CAPP from a manufacturing engineering perspective. Strong emphasis is placed on the understanding of the fundamental principles allied with the implementation of CAPP systems. The book also provides state-of-the-art knowledge on all aspects of computerized manufacturing process planning technologies. Criteria on how to evaluate CAPP systems are also included. The book can be used as a graduate text for courses on Manufacturing Process Planning and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. It is also eminently suitable as a reference book for guiding research activities in the area of developing CAPP systems and production integration. Production managers and manufacturing engineers will also find the book useful to update their knowledge.

Book Expert System Strategies for Process Planning in Manufacturing

Download or read book Expert System Strategies for Process Planning in Manufacturing written by Bahaa Nasser and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-12-26 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new expert system for automated process planning is presented in this book. This system is called an Intelligent Automated Process Planning system (IAPP). The IAPP system is considered a linkage between the CAD/CAM systems. This system is able to generate the process plans of prismatic as well as cylindrical part drawings. AutoCAD is used for part design representation and solid modeling. The AME (Advanced Modeling Extension) module in AutoCAD has been used for constructing the part designs. The AME provides the geometrical information of the part design through an ASCII file called CSIGES. The geometrical information is analyzed through the feature recognition program that is created specifically for the IAPP system (Intelligent Automated Process Planning)to extract the features from the part design. The feature recognition program of the IAPP system is able to recognize these features: slots, pockets (blind and through), inclined surfaces, holes (blind and through), threads, step shafts, hollow shafts, tubes, and keyways.

Book Process Planning

Download or read book Process Planning written by Peter Scallan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-06-20 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process Planning covers the selection of processes, equipment, tooling and the sequencing of operations required to transform a chosen raw material into a finished product. Initial chapters review materials and processes for manufacturing and are followed by chapters detailing the core activities involved in process planning, from drawing interpretation to preparing the final process plan. The concept of maximising or 'adding value' runs throughout the book and is supported with activities. Designed as a teaching and learning resource, each chapter begins with learning objectives, explores the theory behind process planning, and sets it in a 'real-life' context through the use of case studies and examples. Furthermore, the questions in the book develop the problem-solving skills of the reader. ISO standards are used throughout the book (these are cross-referenced to corresponding British standards). This is a core textbook, aimed at undergraduate students of manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering with manufacturing options and materials science. Features numerous case studies and examples from industry to help provide an easy guide to a complex subject Fills a gap in the market for which there are currently no suitable texts Learning aims and objectives are provided at the beginning of each chapter - a user-friendly method to consolidate learning
