Download or read book Convective Heat Transfer Second Edition written by Sadik Kakaç and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-12-16 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convective Heat Transfer presents an effective approach to teaching convective heat transfer. The authors systematically develop the topics and present them from basic principles. They emphasize physical insight, problem-solving, and the derivation of basic equations. To help students master the subject matter, they discuss the implementations of the basic equations and the workings of examples in detail. The material also includes carefully prepared problems at the end of each chapter. In this Second Edition, topics have been carefully chosen and the entire book has been reorganized for the best presentation of the subject matter. New property tables are included, and the authors dedicate an entire chapter to empirical correlations for a wide range of applications of single-phase convection. The book is excellent for helping students quickly develop a solid understanding of convective heat transfer.
Download or read book The Axisymmetric Free convection Heat Transfer Along a Vertical Thin Cylinder with Constant Surface Temperature written by Raymond Viskanta and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laminar free-convection flow produced by a heated, vertical, circular cylinder for which the temperature at the outer surface of the cylinder is assumed to be uniform is analyzed. The solution of the boundary-layer equations was obtained by the perturbation method of Sparrow and Gregg, which is valid only for small values of the axial distance parameter xi ; and the integral method of Hama et al., for large values of the parameter xi . Heat-transfer results were calculated for Prandtl numbers (Pr) of 100, the Nusselt numbers (Nu) for the cylinder were higher than those for the flat plate, and this difference increased as Pr decreased. It was also found that the perturbation method of solution of the free-convection boundary-layer equations becomes useless for small values of Pr because of the slow convergence of the series. The results obtained by the integral method were in good agreement with those calculated by the perturbation method for Pr approximately 1 and 0.1
Download or read book Laminar Flow and Convective Transport Processes written by Howard Brenner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 761 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laminar Flow and Convective Transport Processes: Scaling Principles and Asymptotic Analysis presents analytic methods for the solution of fluid mechanics and convective transport processes, all in the laminar flow regime. This book brings together the results of almost 30 years of research on the use of nondimensionalization, scaling principles, and asymptotic analysis into a comprehensive form suitable for presentation in a core graduate-level course on fluid mechanics and the convective transport of heat. A considerable amount of material on viscous-dominated flows is covered. A unique feature of this book is its emphasis on scaling principles and the use of asymptotic methods, both as a means of solution and as a basis for qualitative understanding of the correlations that exist between independent and dependent dimensionless parameters in transport processes. Laminar Flow and Convective Transport Processes is suitable for use as a textbook for graduate courses in fluid mechanics and transport phenomena and also as a reference for researchers in the field.
