The results of the survey show that inter-personal violence is widespread: approximately one third of the population has been affected by inter-personal violence at some time in their lives; one in twenty women have experienced serious sexual assault; and one in five women and one in ten men have been victims of domestic violence. The results also indicate that there are high levels of repeat victimisation, especially in cases of domestic violence.
