Book Why I Have to Die Like Jesus and Louis Riel

Download or read book Why I Have to Die Like Jesus and Louis Riel written by James Prince and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-11 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dozens of writers wrote about the life, the death, and the career of Louis Riel, but they have mainly written about his political activities and his rebellions. I will talk to you mainly about his relationship with God and that he had the same preoccupations as Jesus had in this world, meaning to free his people from the slavery of sin and the slavery of religion and to lead his people to God. Louis Riel understood just like Jesus did that religions, mainly the one that has its head in Rome, are a dreadful slavery, and we definitely have to separate from them. This is the reason the John A. Macdonalds government pressed by the Christian churches found a way to eliminate him from this earth despite the protestations against this from all over. So Louis Riel had to go through the same destiny as the one who inspired him, Jesus of Nazareth, and this is why I expect the same conclusion for myself, because I do the same thing they did, meaning opening the eyes of the blind. Fortunately for the world and thanks to God, a bit of salt and a gleam of light made their way to me. So in one way Ill be able to continue the work of Jesuss disciples, and this is what Im doing with the help of my books.

Book Selected Poetry of Louis Riel

Download or read book Selected Poetry of Louis Riel written by Louis Riel and published by Exile Editions, Ltd.. This book was released on 2000-11 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Luis Riel, the compelling leader of the Metis, hanged by Sir John A. MacDonald's government in 1885, sits at the core of the Canadian national imagination. Among partisans, he is either a poltroon or prophet, politically adept or an inept fool. He was a visionary, and a very interesting poet, full of rancor and tenderness, self-pity and dignity. This is the first selection of his poetry to be published in this country in both French and English.

Book Extraordinary Canadians Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont

Download or read book Extraordinary Canadians Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont written by Joseph Boyden and published by Penguin Canada. This book was released on 2010-10-05 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Louis Riel is regarded by some as a hero and visionary, by others as a madman and misguided religious zealot. The Métis leader who fought for the rights of his people against an encroaching tide of white settlers helped establish the province of Manitoba before escaping to the United States. Gabriel Dumont was a successful hunter and Métis chief, a man tested by warfare, a pragmatist who differed from the devout Riel. Giller Prize—winning novelist Joseph Boyden argues that Dumont, part of a delegation that had sought out Riel in exile, may not have foreseen the impact on the Métis cause of bringing Riel home. While making rational demands of Sir John A. Macdonald's government, Riel seemed increasingly overtaken by a messianic mission. His execution in 1885 by the Canadian government still reverberates today. Boyden provides fresh, controversial insight into these two seminal Canadian figures and how they shaped the country.
