Book Computer Aided Control System Design

Download or read book Computer Aided Control System Design written by Mieczys?aw A. Brdy? and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about Computer Aided Control System Design (CACSD) of the direct process controller. Various methods and tools, representing an up-to-date level of development, are presented by leading experts. Several articles describe main principles and problems associated with modern direct control and with CACSD. Existing tools are presented, including packages for stability analysis of nonlinear systems, adaptive control design and integrated analysis, and simulation and tuning of controllers. The reader can observe that it is possible to develop CACSD tools by using open general packages such as Matlab or Simulab, or by providing specialised software. He can then compare both approaches and get an improved understanding of their respective advantages and disadvantages. The leading article by the editors presents CACSD Methods and tools in a broader context. There is also detailed material on upper control layers, hierarchical control, and real-time systems.

Book Expert Aided Control System Design

Download or read book Expert Aided Control System Design written by Colin D. Tebbutt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Successful multivariable control system design demands knowledge, skill and creativity of the designer. Artificial intelligence can facilitate the design process by capturing much of the knowledge and some of the skill of the designer into an intelligent design tool, leaving the designer free to concentrate more on the creativity aspect of the design. This publication investigates the contribution which artificial intelligence can make to multivariable control system design. It covers all the research, design, development and testing aspects of creating the expert system. The approach is a critical one, reporting on the success as well as the shortcomings of expert system technology. Full documentation of the design software applications relevant to new and experienced users is given.

Book Systems Analysis and Simulation I

Download or read book Systems Analysis and Simulation I written by Achim Sydow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer simulation has developed into a powerful tool for problem solving in a variety of areas, in the sciences as well as in industrial environments. New developments such as parallel simulation techniques will further improve the efficiency of the tool. Decision support systems, either based on mathematical models or on knowledge based expert systems will make computer simulation accessible to more users, and will provide better environments for systems analysis, modeling and simulation. Systems Analysis and Simulation presents the papers accepted for the 3rd International Symposium for Systems Analysis and Simulation held in Berlin (GDR) in September of 1988. The contributions selected for this two-volume set present the state of the art and current trends in computer simulation. Volume I emphasizes the theoretical foundations and the methodology for computer simulation and systems analysis. Volume II presents a variety of applications in fields such as manufacturing, robotics, economics, and biology.

Book Artificial Intelligence in Real Time Control

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence in Real Time Control written by M. G. Rodd and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Intelligence in Real-Time Control documents the proceedings of the IFAC Workshop held in Clyne Castle, Swansea, UK, 21-23 September 1988. It includes two keynote addresses that discussed architectural issues for expert systems in real-time control; the problem of representing knowledge and reasoning; and the problems encountered in obtaining such information. Other papers contained in these proceedings are representative of the major research bodies active throughout the world in the application of AI techniques in real-time control, although it was inevitable that a Europe-based conference would highlight the work of the European groups. While AI is clearly still in the process of establishing itself, it is undoubtedly a major new area of engineering endeavor. Practical experience is still relatively limited, and many of the results discussed at this event were obtained through simulation or, in a few cases, from reduced practical experience. The importance, though, lies in the fact that many countries are pouring extensive resources into the attempt to control difficult processes by using AI techniques. The wide cross section of interest was demonstrated by the fact that many diverse industries were represented at the workshop—ranging from power-systems control to telecommunications, and into the steel industry.
