Book Manual of Numerical Methods in Concrete

Download or read book Manual of Numerical Methods in Concrete written by M Y H Bangash and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 2001-07-27 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manual of numerical methods in concrete aims to present a unified approach for the available mathematical models of concrete, linking them to finite element analysis and to computer programs in which special provisions are made for concrete plasticity, cracking and crushing with and without concrete aggregate interlocking. Creep, temperature, and shrinkage formulations are included and geared to various concrete constitutive models.

Download or read book Impact and Explosion written by M. Y. H. Bangash and published by Blackwell. This book was released on 1993-07-15 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Impact and Explosion: Structural Analysis and Design presents a comprehensive study of the structural dynamics of impact and explosion by providing a survey of types of aircraft, missiles, bombs, and detonators. Impact dynamics, including empirical models developed for different materials, water surfaces, and soil/rock mediums, is discussed. Other topics include load time history; explosion dynamics related to material damage capabilities; dynamic finite elements with provisions for impact and explosions; a discussion of solution procedures, acceleration, and convergence criteria; methods for designing structures resistant to impact and explosions; and how damage results due to impact or explosions. Case histories, comparative studies, numerous examples, appendices, and extensive references reinforce information presented in this important book for engineers and researchers working in government and private industry laboratories concerned with blast or impact loading effects on structures. Small firms that deal with impact loading (e.g., automobile collisions) will also find this book valuable.

Book The Effect of Temperature on Creep of Concrete

Download or read book The Effect of Temperature on Creep of Concrete written by H. G. Geymayer and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of the literature on the effect of elevated temperatures on the time-dependent volume change due to load (creep) of concrete reveals incomplete and conflicting evidence. Some workers have found a 'creep maximum' at a particular temperature range; others have not encountered this phenomenon. Among those who have found it, there is lack of agreement as to what the range is. All available data have been collected, reduced to comparable form, and analyzed. The analysis has been reviewed in the light of the several theories of the mechanism of concrete creep. It is concluded that the new results on temperature effects on creep do not resolve the conflicts among the various creep theories, but they tend to support the seepage theory more than any other. Many factors affecting creep are found to be influential at elevated temperatures in analogous fashion to their influence at room temperature. These factors include time under load, applied stress, maturity of concrete, and moisture content of concrete. The effect of temperature, at least up to 50 C, is to increase creep by a factor of two or three at 50 C. (Author).
