Book Quasilinear Elliptic Equations with Degenerations and Singularities

Download or read book Quasilinear Elliptic Equations with Degenerations and Singularities written by Pavel Drábek and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 1997 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series is devoted to the publication of high-level monographs which cover the whole spectrum of current nonlinear analysis and applications in various fields, such as optimization, control theory, systems theory, mechanics, engineering, and other sciences. One of its main objectives is to make available to the professional community expositions of results and foundations of methods that play an important role in both the theory and applications of nonlinear analysis. Contributions which are on the borderline of nonlinear analysis and related fields and which stimulate further research at the crossroads of these areas are particularly welcome. Book Weak Convergence Methods For Semilinear Elliptic Equations

Download or read book Weak Convergence Methods For Semilinear Elliptic Equations written by Jan Chabrowski and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1999-10-19 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with nonlinear boundary value problems for semilinear elliptic equations on unbounded domains with nonlinearities involving the subcritical Sobolev exponent. The variational problems investigated in the book originate in many branches of applied science. A typical example is the nonlinear Schrödinger equation which appears in mathematical modeling phenomena arising in nonlinear optics and plasma physics. Solutions to these problems are found as critical points of variational functionals. The main difficulty in examining the compactness of Palais-Smale sequences arises from the fact that the Sobolev compact embedding theorems are no longer true on unbounded domains. In this book we develop the concentration-compactness principle at infinity, which is used to obtain the relative compactness of minimizing sequences. This tool, combined with some basic methods from the Lusternik-Schnirelman theory of critical points, is to investigate the existence of positive, symmetric and nodal solutions. The book also emphasizes the effect of the graph topology of coefficients on the existence of multiple solutions.

Book Some Remarks on Quasilinear Elliptic Problems

Download or read book Some Remarks on Quasilinear Elliptic Problems written by Nikolaos Halidias and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper we give two existence theorems for a class of elliptic problems in an Orlicz-Sobolev space setting concerning both the sublinear and the superlinear case with Neumann boundary conditions. We use the classical critical point theory with the Cerami (PS)-condition.

Book On Some Existence Theorems for Semilinear Elliptic Equations

Download or read book On Some Existence Theorems for Semilinear Elliptic Equations written by Herbert Amann and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boundary value problems for semilinear elliptic equations are considered. If the nonlinear terms do not grow too fast as a function of the gradient of the dependent variable and ordered upper and lower solutions are known, then maximal and minimal solutions can be obtained by an iteration procedure. Other results concerning the existence of additional solutions follow from topological principles.

Book Elliptic Equations and Systems with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions

Download or read book Elliptic Equations and Systems with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions written by Alzaki Mohmoud Muhammed Fadlallah and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation presents some results on the solvability of second order elliptic equations with nonlinear boundary conditions at resonance, in which the nonlinear boundary conditions perturbation is not necessarily required to satisfy Landesman-Lazer conditions or the monotonicity assumption. The nonlinearity may be unbounded. The nonlinearity interacts in some sense with the Steklov spectrum. The proofs are based on a priori estimates for possible solutions to a homotopy on suitable tracespaces and topological degree arguments. We will also study solvability of nonlinear second-order elliptic systems of partial differential equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. We study the generalized Steklov-Robin eigensystem (with possibly matrix weights) in which the spectral parameter is both in the system and on the boundary. We prove the existence of solutions for nonlinear problems when both nonlinearities in the differential systems and on the boundary interact, in some sense, with the generalized spectrum. The proofs are based on variational methods and a priori estimates.
