Book The Feasibility of Joint Implementation

Download or read book The Feasibility of Joint Implementation written by C.J. Jepma and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CATRINUS J. JEPMA This volume contains the various contributions that were made during the International Conference on Joint Implementation, held near Groningen, The Netherlands, 1-3 June 1994. The conference was initiated by The Netherlands' Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment -along with the Ministries of Foreign (Development Cooper ation) and Economic Affairs -and carried out under the responsibility of Foundation IDE (Groningen, The Netherlands). Its underlying idea was to bring together an international group of specialists on Joint Implementation (11) - from governments, NGOs, business and science -to discuss its feasibility of 11. The conference was timed between the 9th and 10th session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) for a Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) - which was by then considered as the most crucial phase preparing for the first Conference of Parties (CoP I; Berlin, 28 March - 7 April 1995) - in order to provide additional information or results that might serve as an input in the international negotiating process. The main purpose of the conference was, however, to sit back and have a reflection about what has now become known as 11, and evaluate from the perspective of academics, and practitioners, jointly with officials what promise the option really holds, and to evaluate under what socio-economic and political circumstances and conditions one could successfully proceed in setting out the framework for its further testing and l application.

Book Energy and the Environment

Download or read book Energy and the Environment written by A. A. M. Sayigh and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 619 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the governments and peoples of the world come to face the global impact of the technological revolution, it is appropriate to consider the future of world energy supplies. This conference approached the task not only of developing the means of tapping renewable energy sources, but also of showing renewable energy to be a viable alternative to current, harmful sources of energy. Economic and educational problems were addressed along with the scientific ones. The development of alternative energy is of no use if it cannot be made economically viable or if people are not convinced of its advantages.

Book The Economics of Conservation Programs

Download or read book The Economics of Conservation Programs written by Franz Wirl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-01-31 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reviews and analyzes the economics of demand side management (DSM) conservation programs in theory and practice, using the regulation of electric utilities as an example and focusing on efficacy of DSM in carbon dioxide emissions reduction plans. Presents an economic model for the demand for energy and efficiency, then analyzes determinants of consumers' decisions using a service framework. That framework is applied in chapters on observed market failures, utilities' motivation for conservation, and conservation incentives for utilities and consumers. Discusses asymmetric information and strategic consumer reactions, and looks at the impact of US DSM on electricity demand. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Environmental Innovation and Ecodesign

Download or read book Environmental Innovation and Ecodesign written by Romain Debref and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-01 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of the post-war economic boom was marked by the recognition of the environmental problem with the oil crises of the 1970s and, in 1972, the first major UN conference devoted to the human environment. Successive international meetings have resulted in a context where technical change, innovation and industry have assumed a central place in the creation of a new model of society. Against this consensus, the author demonstrates from economic analysis and wide-ranging examples that the environmental innovation doctrine and ecodesign methods remain fragile and can lead to paradoxical results.

Book Forecasting U S Electricity Demand

Download or read book Forecasting U S Electricity Demand written by Adela Maria Bolet and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-08-30 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the energy headlines of 1985 proclaim the waning of OPEC, the collapse of oil prices, and the demise of the nuclear power industry, few policy analysts are examining the dynamic challenges and opportunities that may confront the electric power industry during the remainder of this century. In this pioneering work, Adela Maria Bolet attempts to do exactly this, namely, to reconcile the differences among forecasters as to the future of electricity demand in the industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.
