Book An Atlas of Sigmoidoscopy and Cystoscopy

Download or read book An Atlas of Sigmoidoscopy and Cystoscopy written by Brigitte E. Miller and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-11-15 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physicians are used to treating medical problems as they arise. Patients don't usually go to a doctor unless they are feeling ill. But with the biomedical technology breakthroughs of the last few decades, the future of medicine has become proactive, and preventive health care will take center stage. Screening techniques, and the recommendations based on their results, will play a vital role. While no picture can replace experience and no book can replace good training and constant practice, An Atlas of Sigmoidoscopy and Cystoscopy provides key information on screening techniques that can significantly ameliorate or prevent many conditions from becoming serious. It allows non-specialists to gain some initial knowledge about sigmoidoscopy and cystoscopy, helping them to make appropriate referrals and recommendations, and give more patients access to screening exams. The author has assembled information from diverse sources. The words and pictures complement each other, presenting the fundamentals of critically important procedures. From the preoperative consents and other paperwork to intraoperative findings, An Atlas of Sigmoidoscopy and Cystoscopy fills a significant void on your shelf and in this field.

Book Atlas of Gynecologic Oncology

Download or read book Atlas of Gynecologic Oncology written by J. Richard Smith and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While there are a plethora of practical texts relating to general gynecology, there are few specific to gynecological oncology. Taking a "cookbook" approach with clearly written and pictorial instructions, Atlas of Gynecologic Oncology: Investigation and Surgery describes and illustrates important procedures in the repertoire of a gynecological oncologist. International authorities contribute their expertise on a range of topics, including tumor markers, pain management, cross-sectional imaging, treatment of vascular defects, and more. The book pulls together investigations performed by the authors and their colleagues from other disciplines. It covers computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and stenting, which were previously accessible only in radiological or urological texts. The chapter on genetic and other screening methods for ovarian cancer provides insight into a rapidly expanding area within the subspecialty. The text is deliberately short and the illustrations, all the work of one team of artists to maintain clarity and continuity of presentation, put the techniques at your fingertips. The radiological and endoscopic sections include photographs with line drawings to aid clarity. Clearly and concisely written, the book is a practical and easy-to-use guide to investigation and surgery.

Book Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery TAMIS and Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision taTME

Download or read book Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery TAMIS and Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision taTME written by Sam Atallah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book captures cornerstone developments in a new body of knowledge and provides an expert resource on a “hot topic” in rectal surgery. Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) was designed for local excision of select rectal neoplasms, however soon it became realized that the TAMIS technique could be used for applications beyond local excision, most notably for transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME). This new operative technique has revolutionized our approach to the distal rectum by allowing for improved access, especially in obese male patients with an android pelvis, and by minimizing abdominal wall access trauma. The endpoints of improved oncologic resection, as defined by mesorectal envelope completeness, negative circumferential resection margins, and negative distal margin, are assessed. This book details controversies, pitfalls, and future directions of taTME and TAMIS. Chapters are authored by those on the forefront of innovation with TAMIS and taTME, and each is considered an authority on the topic. Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) and Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME) is a must-have reference for surgeons who are performing this operation and fellows in training who want to completely understand the various nuances of TAMIS and taTME.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Confronted with myriads ofTs, N's and M's in the VICC TNM booklet, classifying a malignancy may seem to many cancer clini cians a tedious, dull and pedantic task. But then when he looks into the TNM-Atlas all of a sudden lifeless categories become vi vid images, challenging his know-how and his investigational skills. Prof. Dr. Brigit van der Werf-Messing, Chairman of the International TNM-Committee of the VICC. Preface In 1938 the League of Nations Health Organization published an "Atlas illustrating the division of cancer of the uterine cervix into four stages according to the anatomo-clinical extent of the growth". Since this work appeared, the idea of visual representation of the anatomical extent of malignant tumours at the different stages of their development has been repeatedly discussed. At its meeting in Copenhagen in July 1954, the VICC adopted as part of its programme "the realization of a clinical atlas". However, the time to do the planned illustration work was not ripe until the National Committees and international organiza tions had officially recognized the 28 classifications of malignant tumours at various sites as presented in the 3rd edition of the "TNM Booklet" (1978) edited by M. Harmer. This was all the more important since in 1980, in addition to the "Booklet", a "Brochure of Checklists" edited by A.H. Sellers was made available as a further aid in the practical application of the TNMsystem
