Book An Atlas of High Resolution Spectra of Rare Earth Elements for ICP AES

Download or read book An Atlas of High Resolution Spectra of Rare Earth Elements for ICP AES written by Benli Huang and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES) has been widely adopted as a routine analytical technique for elemental analysis in both industry and academia. However, spectral interference can be a major problem, particularly with such line-rich elements as the rare earth elements. An Atlas of High Resolution Spectra of Rare Earth Elements, which comes complete with a CD of spectra in full colour, is a reference source suitable for all analytical spectroscopists. Using some previously unpublished high resolution spectra, this atlas enables users of ICP-AES to select the best lines of any single rare earth element matrix. Clear instructions for the use of the accompanying CD are provided, which allows all adjacent interferent spectral profiles to be displayed and superimposed. Up-to-date and informative, this unique book will be welcomed as a practical and indispensable reference guide by all those who use ICP-AES for the analysis of rare earth elements.

Book Tables for Emission Spectrographic Analysis of Rare Earth Elements

Download or read book Tables for Emission Spectrographic Analysis of Rare Earth Elements written by Ch. Kerekes and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atlas and Tables for Emission Spectrographic Analysis of Rare Earth Elements focuses on the analysis of rare earths with the Zeiss Q 24 spectrograph or with instruments of similar dispersion. The book first offers information on the division of the spectra of rare earth elements and Sc and Y into three groups. The spectra of Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Er have lines that, however, do not form characteristic line groups. The text underscores that in preparing the Atlas, the spectral pure-grade rare earth oxides sold by the Johnson & Matthey Co. were considered. Through the help of their spectra, the usable analysis lines and the wavelength values of the interfering spectral lines are created. The operating and photographic conditions are tabulated. The book stresses that for each rare earth, the analysis lines are provided in order of decreasing wavelength. The number located in the lower left corner for each analysis line indicates its relative intensity. The fifteen columns contain the interfering lines of other rare earths and of Sc and Y. The interfering lines are created through the use of the double projector of the Optica Milano Co. and the Gatterer Spectrum. The text is a great source of information for readers wanting to analyze rare earths with the Zeiss Q 24 spectrograph or with instruments of similar dispersion.

Book Innovative and Applied Research on Platinum Group and Rare Earth Elements

Download or read book Innovative and Applied Research on Platinum Group and Rare Earth Elements written by Federica Zaccarini and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book (Special Issue) presents the geological environment, physical/chemical properties, and crystallographic data for two new minerals associated with chromitites from the Othrys ophiolite complex: Eliopoulosite, V7S8/IMA2019-96, and Grammatikopoulosite, NiVP/IMA2019-090. The distribution, mineralogy, and field relationships of PGE-enriched ores, which are important for our understanding of the metallogenic controls on the concentration of PGE and their exploration, are addressed in papers, providing (a) the first detailed data on the chromitites and platinum-group elements (PGE) mineralization from Ulan-Sar’dag ophiolite, Central Asian Fold Belt/East Sayan, Russia, (b) peculiarities on the distribution of PGE in arsenopyrites and pyrites from the Natalkinskoe gold ore deposit, NE Russia, and (c) the occurrence of zoned laurite found in the Merensky Reef of the Bushveld layered intrusion, South Africa, characterized by textural/compositional features suggesting “hydrothermal” origin. Two papers deal with (a) the rare earth element (REE) distribution in various mineral deposits of Sweden, obtained during the EURARE project, and their application to the exploration of REE and (b) the optimization of the beneficiation process for the REE recovery from black sands. Five papers provide new data of genetic and exploration significance on trace elements, including REE and PGE in various ore-types, and factors controlling the Cr stable isotope (δ53Cr values) in chromitites from the Balkan peninsula.

Book Advanced and Applied Studies on Ultra Trace Rare Earth Elements REEs in Carbonates Using SN ICPMS and LA ICPMS

Download or read book Advanced and Applied Studies on Ultra Trace Rare Earth Elements REEs in Carbonates Using SN ICPMS and LA ICPMS written by Chung-Che Wu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-06 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides two state-of-the-art quantitative techniques to determine ultra-trace rare earth elements (REEs) in natural carbonates using solution nebulization-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SN-ICPMS) and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) with respective applications were presented in this dissertation. These techniques were applied to natural carbonates, including corals and stalagmites, to understand volcano eruptions and the impacts on modern biosystem and paleoclimate regimes. In the first SN-ICPMS protocol, direct measurements for femtogram quantity carbonate samples without chemical separation steps can offer accurate and high-precision analysis (±1.9-6.5%, 2σ) with a high sample throughput of 8-10 samples/hr routinely. Application to modern Porites corals collected from South China Sea region, the anomalies of REE contents and Al/Ca ratios associated with micro-domain images, register modern coral reefs could be exacerbated by volcanic eruptions. In the second protocol, a high-sensitivity quantitative open-cell LA-ICPMS technique has been established to allow direct sampling on stalagmite surface in the atmospheric air. This technique improved limits of detection down to sub-ng/g range and promises analyses of carbonate REE profiles at the single digit parts-per-billion (ppb) levels. Application to a 15-cm stalagmite collected from East Timor reveals two peaks of REE contents by at least one order of magnitude, possibly due to volcanic ash preserved in stalagmite. Both improved SN-ICPMS and LA-ICPMS techniques highlight the high-sensitivity and high-temporal-resolution carbonate REE analyses for corals and stalagmites, with great potential to other natural carbonates such as travertine, tufa, and flowstone, benefit our understanding of paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental dynamics.

Download or read book Land Ocean Systems in the Siberian Arctic written by Heidemarie Kassens and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 850 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Arctic and its surrounding marginal seas are considered some of the most sensitive elements of the global environment, which may respond rapidly to climate change. However, due to various reasons, our knowledge of the processes which drive the Arctic system today and in the past is still relatively sparse. Based on a multidisciplinary approach, German and Russian scientists describe in this book the natural paleorecords and modern data which were collected over the past 6 years. These marine and terrestrial datasets provide important new insights into the causes, impacts, and feedback mechanisms of this extreme Arctic environment.
