Book The Princess Arabella the Prince and the Wizard an Arabian Nights Fairy Tale

Download or read book The Princess Arabella the Prince and the Wizard an Arabian Nights Fairy Tale written by Zachris Topelius and published by . This book was released on 2016-07-23 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Children stories book is 100 years old being published in 1916 and is now in the public domain.Being part of the Top of the World Stories for Boys and Girls it was written by Finnish author Zachris Topelius for the children of Finland and Sweden and then translated to English by Emilie and Laura Poulsson. It was initially called: THE PRINCESS LINDAGULL.It is, an Arabian Nights tale, and tells the story of Shah Nadir the might King of Persia and his much loved and beautiful daughter The Princess Arabella who, as well as beauty, had a heart noble, tender and good and there was no one in Shah Nadir's whole kingdom who did not love the Princess. The Princess is kidnapped by the evil Wizard Hirmu who took her far away to Lapland. The brave young Arab prince Abderraman made it his mission to rescue the Princess and after much searching and tribulations he found the Princess Arabella and took her back to her father. The grateful King gave the Princess's hand in marriage to the Prince and they married and lived happily ever after.I have left the story in its original version, it is as topical today as it was then, but I have edited a lot of the old style words to make them look and sound modern. I have added some new illustration to make it a much more pleasant experience to the reader and, more importantly, I have changed the name of the Princess to: PRINCESS ARABELLA and the title of the book to: The Princess Arabella, the Prince and the Wizard, an Arabian Nights Fairy Tale.

Book The Tale of Princess Fatima Warrior Woman

Download or read book The Tale of Princess Fatima Warrior Woman written by Melanie Magidow and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in English for the first time, and the only Arabic epic named for a woman, The Tale of Princess Fatima recounts the thrilling adventures of a legendary medieval warrior universally known throughout the Middle East and long overdue to join world literature's pantheon of female heroes. A Penguin Classic A fearsome, sword-slinging heroine who defeated countless men in stealth attacks on horseback, Dhat al-Himma, or Princess Fatima, was secretly given away at birth because she wasn't male, only to triumph as the most formidable warrior of her time. Known alternately as "she-wolf," "woman of high resolve," and "calamity of the soul," she lives on in this rousing narrative of female empowerment, in which she leads armies of more than seventy thousand men in clashes between rival tribes and between Muslims and Christians; reconciles with her father after taking him prisoner; and fends off her infatuated cousin, who challenges her to a battle for the right to marry her. Though her cousin suffers an ignominious defeat, he impregnates Fatima against her will and, when she gives birth to a Black son, disowns his own son, who also grows up to be a great warrior, eventually avenging his mother's honor. The epic culminates in a showdown between Fatima and another formidable warrior woman, and earns Fatima a place alongside the likes of Circe, Mulan, Wonder Woman, Katniss Everdeen and other powerful women.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iffat Al Thunayan, spouse of the late King Faysal bin 'Abdul 'Aziz Al Sa'ud (r. 1964-1975), was a pillar of the ruling Al Sa'ud family. Born and raised in Istanbul to an uprooted Sa'udi family, she returned to the Kingdom in 1932, a few months before the founder ruler, 'Abdul 'Aziz bin 'Abdul Rahman, reinstituted the monarchy. 'Iffat used her influence to infiltrate many progressive ideas into the Kingdom, including significant strides in education for both boys and girls as well as major advances in health care. An astute observer and a doer par excellence, Queen 'Iffat left her mark on the contemporary history of the Al Sa'ud, as she protected and empowered her kin. She raised a formidable family, listened carefully, guided conversations as necessary, spoke with moderation, recommended policies to her husband and, after the latter was assassinated, to her brothers-in-law who succeeded him. A politically conscious spouse, Queen 'Iffat played the leading role in Sa'udi female society, attended many state functions, and received female state guests. She traveled extensively, especially in Europe and the United States, supported myriad charities, and cajoled many to invest in the Kingdom. Universally respected, many people sought her advice for she shared her ambitions and ideas to benefit the entire country. Based on multiple interviews conducted with members of the al-Faysal family, friends, and acquaintances of the late Queen, Joseph A. Kechichian offers the first political biography of a Sa'udi monarch's spouse. This work is an important resource for social scientists and political analysts, and of interest to all who wish to learn about Arab women in general, and Sa'udi women in particular.

Book Princess

Download or read book Princess written by Jean Sasson and published by Random House. This book was released on 2011-12-31 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a land where Kings still rule, I am a Princess. You must know me only as Sultana, for I cannot reveal my true name for fear that harm will come to me and my family for what I am about to tell you. Think of a Saudi Arabian princess and what do you see? A woman glittering with jewels, living a life of unbelievable luxury. She has gold, palaces, swimming-pools, servants, designer dresses galore. But in reality she lives in a gilded cage. She has no freedom, no vote, no control over her own life, no value but as a bearer of sons. Hidden behind the veil, she is a prisoner, her jailers her father, her husband, her sons. 'Sultana' is a member of the Saudi royal family, closely related to the King. For the sake of her daughters, she decided that it was time for a woman in her position to speak out about the reality of life for women in her country, whatever their rank. She tells of her own life, from her turbulent childhood to her arranged marriage - a happy one, until her husband decided to take a second wife - and of the lives of her sisters, her friends and her servants. In contrast to the affection and easy camaraderie amongst the women, she relates a history of appalling oppression against them, everyday occurrences that in any other culture would be seen as shocking human rights violations: forced marriages, servants bullied into sex slavery, summary executions. Princess is a testimony to a woman of indomitable spirit and great courage. By speaking out, 'Sultana' risked bringing the wrath of the Saudi establishment upon her head and upon the heads of her children. For this reason, she told her story anonymously.
