Book excerpt: Excerpt from In Praise of Australia: An Anthology in Prose and Verse When the idea presented itself to me that I should construct a volume 'in Praise of Australia, ' no maker of books concerning any subject could have been more impressed with a sense of the felicity Of a title. What fuller privilege than a special licence to paint in glowing colours the picture of a dear, native land? Moreover, I was sensible of the pleasing conviction that the allotted task would be as easy as it was grateful: to fly for metaphor to my own beloved Bush, I felt a rush of joy and freedom akin to that of some half-trained 'clear-skin' given his head for a gallop in the scrub. Book An Anthology Of Australian Verse Edited By Bertram Stevens

Download or read book An Anthology Of Australian Verse Edited By Bertram Stevens written by Bertram Stevens and published by Lector House. This book was released on 2020-09-30 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Anthology Of Australian Verse: Edited By Bertram Stevens This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

This book was released on 2016-06-21 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Oxford Book of Australasian Verse As for Australasian readers who already know and value their own literature, I cannot h0pe that the book will please many of them. They will blame the editor both for his exclusions and for his inclusions. They are certain to miss many old favourites. Apart from the established fact that tastes differ, I have but one excuse to offer for my misdeeds: my omission of certain names - and those among the most widely popular in their own land - is due neither to negligence nor to a lack of appreciation on the editor's part, but simply and solely to the inexorable necessities of copyright.
