Book Hypergeometric Reproducing Kernels and Analytic Continuation from a Half Line

Download or read book Hypergeometric Reproducing Kernels and Analytic Continuation from a Half Line written by Dmitrii Karp and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indefinite inner product spaces of entire functions and functions analytic inside a disk are considered and their completeness studied. Spaces induced by the rotation invariant reproducing kernels in the form of the generalized hypergeometric function are completely characterized. A particular space generated by the modified Bessel function kernel is utilized to derive an analytic continuation formula for functions on R using the best approximation theorem of S. Saitoh. As a by-product several new area integrals involving Bessel functions are explicitly evaluated.

Book Mathematical Functions and Their Approximations

Download or read book Mathematical Functions and Their Approximations written by Yudell L. Luke and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Functions and their Approximations is an updated version of the Applied Mathematics Series 55 Handbook based on the 1954 Conference on Mathematical Tables, held at Cambridge, Massachusetts. The aim of the conference is to determine the need for mathematical tables in view of the availability of high speed computing machinery. This work is composed of 14 chapters that cover the machinery for the expansion of the generalized hypergeometric function and other functions in infinite series of Jacobi and Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. Numerical coefficients for Chebyshev expansions of the more common functions are tabulated. Other chapters contain polynomial and rational approximations for certain class of G-functions, the coefficients in the early polynomials of these rational approximations, and the Padé approximations for many of the elementary functions and the incomplete gamma functions. The remaining chapters describe the development of analytic approximations and expansions. This book will prove useful to mathematicians, advance mathematics students, and researchers.

Book Numerical Methods for Special Functions

Download or read book Numerical Methods for Special Functions written by Amparo Gil and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special functions arise in many problems of pure and applied mathematics, mathematical statistics, physics, and engineering. This book provides an up-to-date overview of numerical methods for computing special functions and discusses when to use these methods depending on the function and the range of parameters. Not only are standard and simple parameter domains considered, but methods valid for large and complex parameters are described as well. The first part of the book (basic methods) covers convergent and divergent series, Chebyshev expansions, numerical quadrature, and recurrence relations. Its focus is on the computation of special functions; however, it is suitable for general numerical courses. Pseudoalgorithms are given to help students write their own algorithms. In addition to these basic tools, the authors discuss other useful and efficient methods, such as methods for computing zeros of special functions, uniform asymptotic expansions, Padé approximations, and sequence transformations. The book also provides specific algorithms for computing several special functions (like Airy functions and parabolic cylinder functions, among others).

Book excerpt: Ludwig Faddeev is widely recognized as one of the titans of 20th century mathematical physics. His fundamental contributions to scattering theory, quantum gauge theories, and the theory of classical and quantum completely integrable systems played a key role in shaping modern mathematical physics.Ludwig Faddeev's major achievements include the solution of the three-body problem in quantum mechanics, the mathematical formulation of quantum gauge theories and corresponding Feynman rules, Hamiltonian and algebraic methods in mathematical physics, with applications to gauge theories with anomalies, quantum systems with constraints and solitons, the discovery of the algebraic structure of classical and quantum integrable systems and quantum groups, and solitons with the topology of knots.Faddeev's name is imprinted in many areas of mathematics and theoretical physics, including 'Faddeev's equations' and 'Faddeev's Green function' in scattering theory, 'Faddeev-Popov ghosts' and 'Faddeev-Popov determinant' in gauge theories, 'Gardner-Faddeev-Zakharov bracket' for the KdV equation, 'Faddeev-Zamolodchikov algebra' in quantum integrable systems, 'Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan construction' in the theory of quantum groups, knotted solitons in the 'Skyrme-Faddeev model' and many others.Ludwig Faddeev founded the St. Petersburg school of modern mathematical physics and distinguished himself by serving the mathematics community for over three decades including his leadership of the International Mathematical Union in the period of 1986-1990. He was conferred numerous prizes and memberships of prestigious institutions in recognition of the importance of his work. These include the Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics, the Dirac Medal, the Max Planck Medal, the Shaw Prize and the Lomonosov Gold Medal among others.A gathering of contributions from some of the biggest names in mathematics and physics, this volume serves as a tribute to this legendary figure. Book The Hypergeometric Approach to Integral Transforms and Convolutions

Download or read book The Hypergeometric Approach to Integral Transforms and Convolutions written by S.B. Yakubovich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to develop a new approach which we called the hyper geometric one to the theory of various integral transforms, convolutions, and their applications to solutions of integro-differential equations, operational calculus, and evaluation of integrals. We hope that this simple approach, which will be explained below, allows students, post graduates in mathematics, physicists and technicians, and serious mathematicians and researchers to find in this book new interesting results in the theory of integral transforms, special functions, and convolutions. The idea of this approach can be found in various papers of many authors, but systematic discussion and development is realized in this book for the first time. Let us explain briefly the basic points of this approach. As it is known, in the theory of special functions and its applications, the hypergeometric functions play the main role. Besides known elementary functions, this class includes the Gauss's, Bessel's, Kummer's, functions et c. In general case, the hypergeometric functions are defined as a linear combinations of the Mellin-Barnes integrals. These ques tions are extensively discussed in Chapter 1. Moreover, the Mellin-Barnes type integrals can be understood as an inversion Mellin transform from the quotient of products of Euler's gamma-functions. Thus we are led to the general construc tions like the Meijer's G-function and the Fox's H-function.
