Download or read book Evaluation of Employee Assistance Programs written by Marvin D Feit and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book brings together for the first time critical information about the evaluation of employee assistance programs. Although EAPs have existed for over 40 years, the assessment of their value has been fragmented. Contributors to this new volume--blending practical and academic insights--document concerns, address the newer issues and developments in the field of EAPs, and present case examples of actual evaluations. The range and diversity of topics reflect EAPs in transition, their growth patterns, evaluation needs, and evaluation methods. Overall, this important volume emphasizes that successful evaluations depend not only on methodological expertise but a consideration of much broader salient and societal issues.

Download or read book Cost effectiveness and Preventive Implications of Employee Assistance Programs written by Terry C. Blum and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report considers what the appropriate role of employee assistance programs (EAPs) might be, with attention to their contributions to the prevention of alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems. The principal contribution to the cost-effectiveness of EAPs in dealing with mental health problems, especially alcoholism and other drug dependence is through prevention. EAPs are important components of comprehensive worksite AOD abuse prevention programs. Their effectiveness can be demonstrated in reducing chronic heavy drinking as the focus of socializing and recreation, and in providing increased social support and respect for the recovering alcoholic and other drug-dependent coworker. Stemming indirectly from the EAP's presence and impact, employers, employees, and the family and community at large can become more thoughtful, reasonable, and careful about the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs.

Book A Fatal Embrace

Download or read book A Fatal Embrace written by Frank W. Heuberger and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As business practices increasingly move to humanize the workplace, boundaries between private and public life are undergoing redefinition. Nowhere in contemporary business are the boundaries shifting more rapidly than in the area of human resource services. In the past decade, the growth of corporate programs to address social needs among employees has been explosive. A Fatal Embrace? defines reasons for this phenomenon, which has become a significant trend in professional management in Western societies. A Fatal Embrace? is directed at the current proliferation of personal development programs to improve and spur growth in employees' capabilities. Such services include health benefits, family-care arrangements, employee assistance programs, and leadership training. This trend reflects an underlying assumption that the corporation is responsible for promoting a symbiosis of person and economics. By helping employees become healthier, more relaxed, and more creative, the corporation develops stronger economic performers. A Fatal Embrace? will serve as a catalyst for further research and analysis in the area of human resource programs and is an important book to be read by economists, sociologists, and professionals in business and management.
