Download or read book The Standards Based Administrative Internship written by Donald G. Hackmann and published by R&L Education. This book was released on 2002-07-23 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an applied field, educational administration must be learned through experiencing its myriad tasks and challenges. Whether you are the mentor or the intern, you will find a wealth of helpful information and guidance about designing field experiences for individuals who are involved in the clinical preparation of aspiring principals and superintendents. The authors argue for a high-quality internship or mentoring experience and for basing experiences around the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) research-based framework. Chapters provide a detailed description of the key administrative responsibilities inherent in each standard. Additionally, it will assist mentors in understanding their vital roles in ensuring a high-quality learning experience. Suggested readings and Web sites are listed at the conclusion of each standard and sample forms to help structure the field experience are also provided.

Book Two Perspectives of the Administrative Internship

Download or read book Two Perspectives of the Administrative Internship written by Don Hung Vu and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This qualitative examination of two distinct administrative internship experiences takes advantage of a sample of candidates who have had the rare opportunity to participate in two different internship programs. The eight candidates who participated in the California Leadership Lab and the Educational Leadership Program's Field Experience course at Oakmore University helped examine the research questions through individual and focus group interviews as well as written reflections. The research questions were: (a) What impact, if any, did the Oakmore University Field Experience (a traditional internship model) have on candidates' self perceived development of leadership skills? (b) What impact, if any, did the California Leadership Lab (an alternative internship model) have on candidates' self perceived development of leadership skills? (c) How do the candidates compare the two internships (traditional and alternative) to one another? A thorough examination of these two internship models shows that there are clear strengths in both programs. However, one of the key research findings is that either program, by itself, does not provide a complete learning experience for the interns. There are too many gaps in learning for each model and the possible combination of the two programs may provide an opportunity to fill each one's gaps. An exploration of transformational leadership and transformative learning provides insight on a possible alternative model of the administrative internship."--Abstract, p. 1.

Book The School Administrator Internship Handbook

Download or read book The School Administrator Internship Handbook written by Ronald L. Capasso and published by Corwin Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of the internship as a central ingredient of effective preservice programs. Intended for those who are involved in the preparation of school administrators, the text emphasizes that preservice programs must ensure that interns will learn the skills that will make them effective leaders. The book is designed to address the issues and practice of internships so as to provide a meaningful model for prospective educational leaders. The text is divided into 10 chapters. Chapters 1, 2, and 3 relate to organizing and designing a learning encounter that focuses on a realistic set of goals. They provide information that will help the university, internship site (local school system), and intern to form a bond, thus enabling the partners to function as a minicohort. Chapters 4 and 5 discuss the specific traits that interns need to extend and enhance during their internship experience so that they may increase the quality of life in the organizations they will eventually lead. Chapters 6, 7, and 8 describe the specific roles that the university mentor, field mentor, and intern must enact during the internship, whereas the last two chapters provide examples of how to evaluate and assess the internship and the university experience. (Contains 10 references and an index.) (RJM)
