Book An Adaptive Technique for Multiple Signal Detection and Identification

Download or read book An Adaptive Technique for Multiple Signal Detection and Identification written by John W Sammon (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of detecting and identifying multiple signals which are corrupted by independent additive noise is mathematically formulated. It is explicitly assumed that (1) the epoch and time duration of the signals are known, (2) the statistics of the corrupting noise are known, (3) the number of signals and their individual shapes are not known, and (4) the a priori probabilities of the occurrence of the individual signals are not known. An adaptive technique is developed to determine (1) the number of signals, (2) the signal shapes, and (3) the relative frequency of each signal's occurrence. The adaptive procedure uses only the observations made at the receiver output. Computer simulated results are given for the case of Gaussian noise. These results clearly indicate that approximate detection and identification can be achieved adaptively. (Author).

Book Techniques for Adaptive Signal Detection

Download or read book Techniques for Adaptive Signal Detection written by Azer P. Shikhaliev and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We provide new techniques for adaptive signal processing and signal detection, particularly as applied to the case of radar systems. We seek to detect the presence or absence of a signal in the presence of clutter and noise, which are modeled as random samples from a colored Gaussian distribution. The covariance matrix of this distribution is usually unknown, which presents a major challenge to the detection task. In the first approach we present, we utilize various structural assumptions on the unknown covariance matrix in order to obtain an improved estimate of it when few training samples are available. In the second approach, we propose two detectors which use white noise matched filtering. This second approach does not utilize the covariance matrix estimate for whitening, but still gives high-quality detection performance with a constant false alarm rate (CFAR) in low training data when the true covariance matrix condition number is low. In the third approach, we design adaptive detectors which make the assumption of spectral symmetry on the clutter and noise returns, meaning that their real and imaginary parts are assumed to be uncorrelated. This assumption enables the derivation of detectors with vastly improved detection performance as compared to those derived without this assumption. Finally, in the fourth approach we extend the spectral symmetry assumption to the case when no secondary data is available, and provide detectors which are still able to perform the detection task and maintain CFAR.

Book Adaptive Signal Processing in Wireless Communications

Download or read book Adaptive Signal Processing in Wireless Communications written by Mohamed Ibnkahla and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adaptive techniques play a key role in modern wireless communication systems. The concept of adaptation is emphasized in the Adaptation in Wireless Communications Series through a unified framework across all layers of the wireless protocol stack ranging from the physical layer to the application layer, and from cellular systems to next-generation wireless networks. This specific volume, Adaptive Signal Processing in Wireless Communications is devoted to adaptation in the physical layer. It gives an in-depth survey of adaptive signal processing techniques used in current and future generations of wireless communication systems. Featuring the work of leading international experts, it covers adaptive channel modeling, identification and equalization, adaptive modulation and coding, adaptive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems, and cooperative diversity. It also addresses other important aspects of adaptation in wireless communications such as hardware implementation, reconfigurable processing, and cognitive radio. A second volume in the series, Adaptation and Cross-layer Design in Wireless Networks(cat no.46039) is devoted to adaptation in the data link, network, and application layers.

Book Adaptive Detection for Multichannel Signals in Non Ideal Environments

Download or read book Adaptive Detection for Multichannel Signals in Non Ideal Environments written by Zeyu Wang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-06-14 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically presents adaptive multichannel signal detection in three types of non-ideal environments, including sample-starved scenarios, signal mismatch scenarios, and noise plus subspace interference environments. The authors provide definitions of key concepts, detailed derivations of adaptive multichannel signal detectors, and specific examples for each non-ideal environment. In addition, the possible future trend of adaptive detection methods is discussed, as well as two further research points – namely, the adaptive detection algorithms based on information geometry, and the hybrid approaches that combine adaptive detection algorithms with machine learning algorithms. The book will be of interest to researchers, advanced undergraduates, and graduate students in sonar, radar signal processing, and communications engineering.

Book Identification And Suppression of Multiple Reflections in Seismic Prospecting

Download or read book Identification And Suppression of Multiple Reflections in Seismic Prospecting written by Evgeniĭ Alekseevich Kozlov and published by VSP. This book was released on 1988-12 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is concerned with the three main aspects of dealing with multiple reflections in seismic prospecting and aims to substantiate a set of new techniques for their more effective suppression. To increase the accuracy of the Earth's physical parameter estimates (1-D, 2-D and 3-D cases) earlier time intervals for seismic records are used in combination with the subtraction of predicted materials from target intervals in the course of seismic data inversion. The automated identification of multiple events on seismic records in the course of data interpretation is discussed with the aim of improving the reliability with which structural and stratigraphic traps can be located. In order to increase the signal to noise ratio modern techniques for the suppression of multiples (on either 2-D or 3-D records) based on the difference between propagation velocities of multiple and primary waves in the course of data processing are considered. The book provides a description of general concepts then focuses on the methodology of data processing and interpretation; including theory, computational algorithms, stability and noise-immunity considerations. Special attention is given to the practical implementation of the techniques proposed. Finally, using a large amount of both model and real data examples, the book illustrates how to improve the resultant seismic data by the use of developed multiple identification and suppression techniques in various geologic environments.
