The second part focusses on important global developments that will increasingly impact management accountants in the future, such as sustainability, the financial crisis, technology and changing roles. A giustificazione dello studio in oggetto ci sono almeno due motivi: il primo, rilevare le marcate differenze di contesto ambientale e aziendale rispetto a quanto documentato da IBM nella periodica CFO Global Survey cosi come da altri studi accademici, e il secondo, la mancanza di contemporaneit in Italia di ricerche sul tema. Attraverso lŐanalisi di nove casi di aziende Italiane di grandi dimensioni si voluto documentare in che modo la funzione AFC e il CFO si sono ritagliati un ruolo nei processi di creazione di valore, facendo leva sulle funzioni tipiche della funzione: la creazione di regole e di un linguaggio comune, il supporto ai processi decisionali e la compliance indipendente. DallŐanalisi dei casi emergono i driver evolutivi della funzione: la finance efficiency (ovvero la capacit di raccogliere e fornire informazioni in modo efficiente) e il business insight (ovvero la capacit di leggere il business e supportare lo sviluppo delle strategie). I ruoli, risultano differenziati tra loro, ma dai risultati della ricerca intuibile che molto la funzione AFC e il CFO possono fare per accompagnare le aziende in un continuo percorso di crescita economica.

But some changes provoke more attention than others, in part due to the vast uncertainty involved in making predictions about the future. The 2019 World Development Report will study how the nature of work is changing as a result of advances in technology today. Technological progress disrupts existing systems. A new social contract is needed to smooth the transition and guard against rising inequality. Significant investments in human capital throughout a person’s lifecycle are vital to this effort. If workers are to stay competitive against machines they need to train or retool existing skills. A social protection system that includes a minimum basic level of protection for workers and citizens can complement new forms of employment. Improved private sector policies to encourage startup activity and competition can help countries compete in the digital age. Governments also need to ensure that firms pay their fair share of taxes, in part to fund this new social contract. The 2019 World Development Report presents an analysis of these issues based upon the available evidence.

Consideration could be given, inter alia, to reviewing court fees, improving the new mandatory mediation scheme, strengthening court management, and reforming the appeal system.
