Book excerpt: Concerning Amines: Their Properties, Preparation and Reactions attempts to describe the accumulated knowledge on the properties of amines. This text first discusses nitrogen atom contained in amines, along with the basicity, geometry, nomenclature, occurrence, reaction, and preparation of these derivatives of ammonia. This book then explains the stereochemistry of the amino group and of quaternary ammonium compounds. Amine salts; absolute configuration of asymmetric amines; and influence of amino group are also tackled. This text also looks into the amino group in heterocyclic aromatic systems. This book concludes by explaining the syntheses of heterocyclic amines, enamines, and further reactions of carbonyl compounds with amines, including the Eschweiler, Vilsmeyer, and von Braun reactions. This publication will be invaluable to those interested in studying the properties of amines, such as chemists and students of chemistry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover a comprehensive overview of efficient synthetic routes to an important compound class in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry Methodologies in Amine Synthesis: Challenges and Applications delivers powerful and state-of-the-art methods for the efficient preparation of amines. The text summarizes recent advances in the electrophilic amination reaction, hydroamination, C-H amination and newly developed photocatalytic approaches. The distinguished editor has included resources that discuss organocatalytic and enzymatic routes to the generation of amines under mild and environmentally friendly conditions. The book also highlights the relevance of the amino function in bioactive molecules, drugs, and smart materials, as well as the palladium-catalyzed aromatic amination reaction. It presents efficient and practical synthetic methods, highlights the opportunities and challenges associated with each, and discusses their possible applications in pharmaceutical chemistry and materials science. Edited by the expert who wrote Modern Amination Methods and Amino Group Chemistry, the book includes a breadth and depth of material essential to the practice of academic and industrial chemists working in organic synthesis and catalysis. Readers will also benefit from the inclusion of: A thorough introduction to new openings and perspectives in the electrophilic amination Discussions of asymmetric catalysed hydroaminomethylation and amino organocatalysis A treatment of the synthetic application of transaminase or MAO biocatalysis to the synthesis of amines An exploration of recent developments in C-H amination, as well as photocatalytic approaches to the synthesis of amines An examination of primary amines from renewable bio-based resources Perfect for organic, natural product, catalytic, medicinal, and polymer chemists, Methodologies in Amine Synthesis: Challenges and Applications will also earn a place in the libraries of materials scientists and chemists working with organometallics who desire a one-stop reference edited by a well-known expert in the field.

Book Some Aromatic Amines and Related Compounds

Download or read book Some Aromatic Amines and Related Compounds written by and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the IARC Monographs provides evaluations of the carcinogenicity of six chemicals: ortho-anisidine and ortho-anisidine hydrochloride, ortho-nitroanisole, aniline and aniline hydrochloride, and cupferron. ortho-Anisidine, and its salt, ortho-anisidine hydrochloride, are mainly used as chemical intermediates in the synthesis of azo pigments and dyes for consumer products, textiles, paper, and cardboard. ortho-Nitroanisole is used primarily as a precursor for the manufacture of ortho-anisidine. Aniline, the parent compound of aniline hydrochloride, is a High Production Volume chemical used in the synthesis of isocyanates, dyes and pigments, and rubber-processing chemicals, and in the production of pharmaceuticals, herbicides, fungicides, and of many consumer goods, including textiles, leather, and colourants, including tattoo ink. Tobacco smoke is a main source of exposure to aniline in the general population. Cupferron is a reagent used to separate metals such as copper, iron, tin, vanadium, and thorium from other metals. For all agents, data were sparse regarding exposure levels, but indicated that exposures are higher in occupational situations than in the general population. An IARC Monographs Working Group reviewed evidence from cancer studies in humans, cancer bioassays in experimental animals, and mechanistic studies to assess the carcinogenic hazard to humans of exposure to these agents and concluded that: 1. ortho-anisidine and ortho-anisidine hydrochloride, ortho-nitroanisole, and aniline and aniline hydrochloride are probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A)2. cupferron is possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B).
