Mainly started from the thought of the huge blocks of mostly cheap left over military surplus cheese sent to the reserves to meet the treaty mandates to provide food to the Natives in exchange for stopping the fighting for their own land. Rez Cheese 2 is about not giving up. We have many inspirational people in our heritage, both local nations, and across the Americas. Suicide, drug addiction, sex trafficking and addiction to pornography are NOT our ways, they demean a person’s soul and the person dies, or kills themselves.

Book American Film Cycles

Download or read book American Film Cycles written by Amanda Ann Klein and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of movies that share images, characters, settings, plots, or themes, film cycles have been an industrial strategy since the beginning of cinema. While some have viewed them as "subgenres," mini-genres, or nascent film genres, Amanda Ann Klein argues that film cycles are an entity in their own right and a subject worthy of their own study. She posits that film cycles retain the marks of their historical, economic, and generic contexts and therefore can reveal much about the state of contemporary politics, prevalent social ideologies, aesthetic trends, popular desires, and anxieties. American Film Cycles presents a series of case studies of successful film cycles, including the melodramatic gangster films of the 1920s, the 1930s Dead End Kids cycle, the 1950s juvenile delinquent teenpic cycle, and the 1990s ghetto action cycle. Klein situates these films in several historical trajectories—the Progressive movement of the 1910s and 1920s, the beginnings of America's involvement in World War II, the "birth" of the teenager in the 1950s, and the drug and gangbanger crises of the early 1990s. She shows how filmmakers, audiences, film reviewers, advertisements, and cultural discourses interact with and have an impact on the film texts. Her findings illustrate the utility of the film cycle in broadening our understanding of established film genres, articulating and building upon beliefs about contemporary social problems, shaping and disseminating deviant subcultures, and exploiting and reflecting upon racial and political upheaval.

Book The American Dream and Contemporary Hollywood Cinema

Download or read book The American Dream and Contemporary Hollywood Cinema written by J. Emmett Winn and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2007-09-26 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the myth of a classless America endures in the American Dream, the very stratification that it denies unfairly affects the majority of Americans. Study after study shows that it's increasingly difficult for working class people to achieve upward mobility in the US - so how does the American Dream continue to thrive? J. Emmett Winn shows us that the American Dream's continued glorification in contemporary Hollywood cinema should not be ignored. The book explicates three major themes surrounding the American Dream in contemporary Hollywood cinema and relates those findings to the United States' social and cultural changes in the last 25 years. Through his thoughtful analysis of films as diverse as Working Girl, Titanic, Pretty Woman, Flashdance, The Firm, Good Will Hunting, Saturday Night Fever, Wall Street and many others, Winn shows that contemporary Hollywood is very much in the business of keeping the Dream alive.
