This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Objective: To examine the association of insurance payer status and language spoken with timeliness of alveolar bone graft surgery in children with cleft lip and palate. Design and setting: A retrospective chart review determining timeliness of alveolar bone grafting at the study hospital. Charts of patients receiving alveolar bone grafts were reviewed for insurance funding, language spoken, surgical date and age at time surgery. On-time surgery was defined as occurring at 11 years of age and younger while late surgery was defined as occurring at 12 years of age and older. Participants: Children with cleft lip and palate who received their initial alveolar bone grafts at the study hospital. Final N was 69 cases. Results and Conclusion: Children with publicly funded insurance were significantly more likely to have their surgeries late compared to children with private insurance (p= 0.005). The effect of language was not found to be significant.
