What does a "typical day" of work look like for graduate business school alumni? What impact do job tasks and work environments have on job satisfaction? How do alumni assess the value of their graduate management degree? The findings in the 2013 Alumni Perspectives Survey report answer these questions and others that address current economic and regional trends affecting alumni of MBA and other business master's programs. Download or read book Alumni Perspectives Survey 2010 Survey Report written by Sabeen Sheikh and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the months of April and September of 2009, the Graduate Management Admission Council[R] (GMAC[R]) conducted the Alumni Perspectives Survey, a longitudinal study of prior respondents to the Global Management Education Graduate Survey of management students nearing graduation. A total of 3,708 alumni responded to the April 2009 survey, representing graduates from the classes of 2000 through 2008. The September 2009 survey sample also included the newly graduated class of 2009. A total of 3,966 alumni responded to the September survey. This report combines data from both of the Alumni Perspectives Surveys conducted in 2009. Since this survey's inception 10 years ago, its research objectives have been to document job characteristics for both the first jobs alumni held after graduation and their current jobs; to track changes in career progression and salary over time; to assess the benefits of graduate management education from a retrospective point of view; and to monitor alumni's educational and communication needs. This report is organized into four sections: the first provides a portrait of the class of 2009 and their employment prospects; the second offers alumni perspectives on job and career progression, salaries, and skills needed for professional success; the third gives voice to alumni opinions on business ethics in the workplace and its role as a part of management curriculum; and the last section presents alumni perspectives on communications with their graduate business school and their ongoing relationship with their alma mater. (Contains 2 tables, 22 figures and 36 footnotes.).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conducted in September 2011, this Alumni Perspectives Survey by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is a longitudinal study of respondents to the Global Management Education Graduate Survey, the annual GMAC[R] exit survey of graduate management students in their final year of business school. This 12th annual report includes responses from 4,135 alumni who graduated from the classes of 2000 through 2011, including 963 members of the class of 2011. This research study tracks alumni employment characteristics over time, exploring job search strategies, compensation and promotion data, industry and job function trends, as well as employment satisfaction and alumni views on their graduate management education. Survey findings are presented in four sections, as follows: (1) Profile of the recently graduated class of 2011, including their job search strategies, employment status, and compensation statistics; (2) Current employment data for alumni from across all graduation years (2000-2011), including career change strategies, salary and other compensation, and job retention; (3) Statistics on career satisfaction, worker engagement on the job, work/life balance, and the state of gender equality in the workplace; and (4) Views of alumni across all graduation years about their business school experience, specifically the value of their degree and its contribution to their career progression, their financial return on investment, and the personal and professional rewards realized from pursuing their degrees. (Contains 9 tables, 27 figures and 49 footnotes.).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the Graduate Management Admission Council[R] (GMAC[R]) first began conducting its Alumni Perspectives Surveys 11 years ago, several "truths" about graduate business school alumni have consistently stood the test of time: They are and remain eminently employable. They constantly rate the value of the degree highly. This year's results are consistent with those of the past. The vast majority, 93 percent, of all respondents to this year's survey reported being employed, and nearly nine out of 10 members (88%) of the class of 2010 had jobs upon graduation. GMAC's Alumni Perspectives Survey findings also show that 95 percent of graduate business school alumni rate their education as a good to outstanding value. The 2011 Alumni Survey Report offers combined data from surveys conducted in April and September 2010. A combined total of 6,877 graduate business alumni responded to the studies, and 824 respondents from the class of 2010 were included in September survey. One of the main research objectives of these alumni studies is to document job characteristics and track changes in employment data--job search strategies, salaries, promotions, job functions, responsibilities, and industries--over time. GMAC accomplishes this by drawing from a sample of thousands of graduating students in its annual surveys and developing a longitudinal database of alumni responses from the classes of 2000 through 2010. The breadth and depth of these survey findings help paint a big picture view of the job market for business school alumni, more than just a quick snapshot; and therein lies their true value and relevance for alumni, employers, and school administrators. The statistics gleaned from past alumni studies provide the context for survey findings in this 2011 report, which shows that the current economic recovery is yielding promising results for recent business school graduates: Employment levels for recent alumni are nearing their pre-recession levels of 2006 and 2007. The impact of the recent recession is moderating, but a slow recovery has spurred extra effort and more creative job search strategies, and led many business school graduates to cast a wider net in order to land a job. Seventy-six percent of 2010 alumni indicated their graduate business degree was essential to the success of these efforts. Further discussion and analysis of 2010 survey findings are presented in three sections: The first features the newly graduated class of 2010 and their job search strategies, employment statistics, and starting salaries; the second offers employment data reported by survey respondents from across graduation years, including job satisfaction, career progression and development, compensation, and a brief look at alumni who launch their own businesses. The last section explores alumni opinions about the value of their graduate management degrees, their educational development needs, and an evaluation of alumni career services. (Contains 16 figures, 1 table and 30 footnotes.).

Book Alumni Perspectives Survey 2015 Survey Report

Download or read book Alumni Perspectives Survey 2015 Survey Report written by Gregg Schoenfeld and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graduate business school students worldwide typically are motivated to pursue management education to achieve three objectives: to advance their careers, to increase their earning potential, and to develop their business knowledge, skills, and abilities. Once they graduate, these business school alumni discover many paths to fulfilling careers, but no matter the path, their careers tend to follow a consistent upward trajectory. They say personal effort, hard work, a graduate management education, and professional connections and networks contribute most to their success. Career success also is influenced by entrepreneurial behavior in the workplace, namely the level of innovativeness, proactivity, and risk-taking behavior that alumni bring to their jobs. The findings in the "2015 Alumni Perspectives Survey Report" offer a current snapshot of more than 12,000 business school alumni from the classes of 1959 through 2014 in their journeys from business school to careers. These alumni represent more than 230 graduate business programs at 71 universities in 16 locations that partnered with GMAC in this study. The data analyzed in this report highlight employment statistics and offer alumni feedback about their career progression and the value of their graduate management education. The Alumni Perspectives Survey, conducted in October and November 2014 by the Graduate Management Admission Council, provides business school professionals with data that can inform strategies for retaining and developing deeper levels of engagement with alumni and for conducting targeted outreach to prospective students. Survey topics featured in this report include: (1) Career status and progression, from entry and mid-level professionals to the c-suite, including the self-employed entrepreneur; (2) A global look at alumni compensation by work location and analysis of salaries in relation to gross domestic product and purchasing-power-parity per capita (GDP PPP); (3) The attributes of career success and a first look at the entrepreneurial orientation of alumni as defined by their innovative, proactive, and risk-taking behavior in the workplace; (4) Alumni employment data, including current job status, industry, job function, job level, work location, and organizational scope and size; and (5) The value of a graduate management education and measures of alumni engagement.
