Book It s All a Setup for God s Glory

Download or read book It s All a Setup for God s Glory written by Evangelist Juanita M. Phillips and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-04-26 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you believe in miracles, you need to read this book. You will be so amazed. God has blessed my life above measure because there were a number of times when I should have died, but each time he miraculously delivered me. In God's plan, situations are set up in each of our lives to glorify him. Over forty years ago, he set it for me to meet the late Prophetess Dr. Hattie B. Jones and become a member of her ministry. Through her faith in God and powerful prayers, my life and numerous others were changed, blessed, and impacted phenomenally. The amazing and mind-boggling ways God used her was similar to how he used the prophets in the Bible. Her life and ministry was a testament that all things are possible, including the impossible, with God.

Book Getting from Here to There Power Politics and Urban Sustainability in North America

Download or read book Getting from Here to There Power Politics and Urban Sustainability in North America written by Ernest J. Yanarella and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2016-05-04 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Getting from Here to There? seeks to take the study of sustainable cities into a realm of analysis and critique that has not been seriously investigated in any explicit and systematic manner: the sphere of power and politics. Using detailed case studies of selected urban sustainability programs-some stillborn or short-lived, others celebrated, still others most promising-it focuses on the political agencies shaping them and the structural elements either impeding or facilitating efforts to build sustainable cities. To accomplish this task, the authors utilize three theories or models of urban power-growth coalition, urban regime, and neo-Gramscian hegemonic-to explore the dynamics of power and politics to better understand these cases and to derive important lessons about getting from here to there. These models offer valuable lessons for ongoing or future sustainable city programs, community or business groups, key policy makers, grassroots organizations, mayors, and urban planners involved in or contemplating moving urban sustainability projects forward, as well as students of urban politics and environmental and sustainability researchers.

Book Libraries and Homelessness

Download or read book Libraries and Homelessness written by Julie Ann Winkelstein and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2021-07-06 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advocating a strategic approach, this book shows how to form a plan, secure funding and support, and create effective programs for adults, children, and youth who are experiencing homelessness. You'll find guidance for creating partnerships, training staff, and advocating. Taking a holistic approach that will help you to better understand the experience of homelessness within the context of your library community, this book offers new strategies and tools for addressing the challenge of meeting the needs of the entire community, including those who are unstably housed. With basic facts, statistics, and conversations about homelessness, the author makes a case for why libraries should provide support, explains exactly which needs they may be able (or unable) to meet, and shows how this support can be a natural part of the library services you already provide. Topics discussed include trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and mental and physical health challenges; brief stories and concrete examples illustrate the principles and guidelines discussed. Citing innovative services such as Dallas Public Library's "coffee and conversation" program and San Francisco Public Library's social worker program, the book offers both food for thought and tools for action as public librarians strive to understand and meet the needs of a population that has traditionally been stereotyped and excluded.

Book Implementing a gender approach in drug policies prevention treatment and criminal justice

Download or read book Implementing a gender approach in drug policies prevention treatment and criminal justice written by Sarah Morton and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2022-04-25 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrating gender into all aspects of drug policy, including the criminal justice system. In its efforts to place human rights at the heart of drug policies, the Pompidou Group has decided to pursue further the work already undertaken towards integrating a gender dimension into drug policy by developing a handbook covering different drug policy areas. It seeks to promote gender sensitivity in drug responses as essential leverage to reduce health inequities and to respect human rights, especially the rights to diversity and dignity for women, men and non-binary people. The publication begins with an overview of epidemiological evidence on gender-based differences in drug use and related consequences. The handbook aims at providing policy makers and practitioners in the drug field with evidence-based and operational recommendations to develop and implement policies and interventions that better integrate specific gender needs (gender-sensitive approach) and support more gender equity (gender-transformative approach) for people concerned with the provision of drug-related prevention and care (risk and harm reduction, treatment, reintegration), including in the criminal justice system. Faithful to the Pompidou Group’s objective of ensuring a link between research, policy and practice, this handbook first explores theoretical views about gender and drug policy, draws on available scientific knowledge and presents recommendations and examples for practice. It is based on extensive debate and a consensus of experts from 13 countries and various professional backgrounds, for cross-cultural relevance.

Book Boundaries and Borders in the Post Yugoslav Space

This book was released on 2021-10-25 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The disintegration of Yugoslavia, accompanied by the emergence of new borders, is paradigmatically highlighting the relevance of borders in processes of societal change, crisis and conflict. This is even more the case, if we consider the violent practices that evolved out of populist discourse of ethnically homogenous bounded space in this process that happened in the wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990ies. Exploring the boundaries of Yugoslavia is not just relevant in the context of Balkan area studies, but the sketched phenomena acquire much wider importance, and can be helpful in order to better understand the dynamics of b/ordering societal space, that are so characteristic for our present situation.

Book Social Love and the Critical Potential of People

Download or read book Social Love and the Critical Potential of People written by Silvia Cataldi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-09-23 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book unveils the concept of social love as a kind of "Karst River" that flows through the history of sociology, reassessing it as a form criticism by people in everyday life. Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, this book offers both theoretical and empirical reflections on social love. It shows that love is not only central to the human experience, but that it can also help to interpret and intervene in social problems such as climate change, poverty, xenophobia, and the (post-)Covid crisis, recognizing people as actors in social change. It explores the idea of love as a key element in the promotion of solidarity and recognition in today’s plural and unequal societies. Based on empirical research on social love conducted through both qualitative and quantitative methods, especially in Europe and Latin America, this book explores the social dimension of love. Providing overviews on key questions and studies on current issues, the book is essential reference and resource for researchers, students, social workers, and professionals in social sciences, social philosophy, anthropology, social psychology, sociology of emotions and postmodern literature.

Book Reconfiguring Global Societies in the Pre Vaccination Phase of the COVID 19 Pandemic

Download or read book Reconfiguring Global Societies in the Pre Vaccination Phase of the COVID 19 Pandemic written by Jack Fong and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2024-05-01 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reconfiguring Global Societies in the Pre-Vaccination Phase of the COVID-19 Pandemic examines lived experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic in communities and societies around the world before the arrival of vaccines. This collection presents analyses of scholars from eight countries, all of whom were engaged in the unfolding crisis of social forces across the world. This timely volume conveys valuable insights about how public officials, the state, healthcare workers, and, ultimately, citizens responded to consequences of the pandemic upon not only the body but also social relations in community, city, and society. The contributing scholars document how state apparatuses, urban configurations, places of employment, legal structures, and ways of life responded to crisis-altered social conditions during the pandemic. The book investigates what societies experiencing crisis around the world reveal about the state’s efficacy and inefficacy in fulfilling its social contract for its citizens, especially on unresolved issues related to social relations based on politics, race, ethnicity, gender, and crime. This collection brings together a cross section of scholars experiencing the same temporal moment of crisis together, watching and observing how the pandemic of their age uncoiled itself into the fabric of community, onto the institutions and bureaucracies of society, and into the most intimate confines of the home.
