After finally finding love with his sweet bride Lonnie, Gideon’s heart was torn when a woman from his past claimed to be his true and rightful wife, forcing him away from his family. God’s merciful hand saw Gideon through the heartache, and with Cassie’s blessing, he is able to return home. But his journey back through the Blue Ridge Mountains will hold a trial he never anticipated. Meanwhile, Lonnie determines to seal off her heart from Gideon, convinced he is lost to her forever. Strengthening her resolve to move on is her growing fondness for the handsome Scotsman, Toby McKee—the young reverend she has come to care for deeply. His proposal of marriage offers a bright future for her and her young son. Yearning to allow joy back into her life, Lonnie must put aside the broken pieces of her heart that still love Gideon. When he returns to find her betrothed to another, he has to place his hope in God, trusting that the One who redeemed their love once can do it again. “Joanne has hit a home run with her Cadence of Grace series… With memorable characters and struggles aplenty, this is the kind of story that will have readers telling their friends, ‘You’ve got to read these books.’” —Lauraine Snelling, best-selling author of the Red River of the North series and Wild West Wind series
Download or read book Esperanza and All My Hope written by Carlos Garcia and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-03-13 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There he goes again, driving with his head down every chance he has. Hes going through something, but every year, nothing ever seems to change. School is going to start again in a couple of days, and he has no new clothes for his boys. The clothes they have are worn out with gravel and sweat entangled within the cloth. Their feet keep growing, but theyll only get laces after the old ones wear out and finally break. We must learn from our mistakes. And know that its okay to make mistakes, but to ignore them is to repeat them, and if we repeat them, this cycle will never end. There he goes again driving, wondering what type of man would let his children walk into a classroom with that feeling of failure stamped to their future before they cross in the classroom door. Hes counting his money to see if he can at least buy some soap before turning into the grocery store. After counting the change in his hand, his eyes turn red. He wants to cry. He wants to hit something. It needs to come out. It will come out. He hides his face from his sons who are wondering why the car is not moving. Its hard to be a full-grown man and to have that feeling of hopelessness that you cant take care of your own children. In their eyes, theres nothing that you cant do, but you know the difference. Dont see me cry. I cant break down right now. Why cant I do it? Why cant I make it through the week? Why do I have to beg? But I will beg for my childrens sake. They deserve better. Ill keep looking for that job, start that business my wife and I always want and always talk about, tired of just talking about it though. Ten years together. Two children we have brought into this world. Weve got to stop driving in circles for our children sake. We can do amazing things for our children. And, children, learn from our mistakes. We dont want you to struggle, but if you do struggle, know it will get easier in time and that your family always loves you. There he goes again driving, thinking which road looks the best. He cant afford to turn down the wrong road. But how does one know which path will lead to prosperity? His children beg him to go while his wife touches his hand reassuring him that wherever they go, they go together. Slowly the brake pedal releases and the car starts to move even as hes not sure which direction to turn the wheel. And there he goes. God bless. Your mother and I know that feeling. Sometimes you just have to push the gas pedal and see where God takes you.

Download or read book The Reason for My Hope written by Billy Graham and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The saving message of the Gospel is the heartbeat of this preacher and evangelist. Millions around the world heard Billy Graham proclaim this unchanging truth. He never forgot the transformation of his own life, when he first said yes to God’s gift of salvation, and he witnessed multitudes turn their hearts to the God of Hope. What is the most hopeful word in History? For Billy Graham, that word is SALVATION. Billy Graham proclaimed God's Gospel with resolve and deep compassion. It is a message he preached for more than seventy years. And in this book you will sense its urgency, filled with hope for the future. Salvation is what we all long for, when we are lost or in danger or have made a mess of our lives. And salvation belongs to us, when we reach out for the only One who can rescue us—Jesus. The Reason for My Hope: Salvation presents the essence of that transformative message. It is biblical and timeless, and though simple and direct, it is far from easy. There are hard words, prophetic words, directed toward a culture that denies the reality of sin and distracts us from the veracity of Hell. But through its ominous warnings shines a light that cannot be extinguished—a beacon of hope that Jesus came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).
Download or read book Faith for a Dark Saturday written by James T. Baker and published by Grave Distractions Pub. (pub-8395162334927303). This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The darkest hour is just before dawn." The age-old adage has been borne out through the experiences of countless lives as a true statement. In Faith for a Dark Saturday, the noted theologian and historian James Baker shows how nine men from the Bible prove the point. Each man tells, in his own words, the misery of his darkest hour, a time that he did not know but we do was just before the dawning of a morning of hope. There is Abraham as he prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac. Jacob as he prepared to meet his hostile brother and possible death. Moses in desert exile before he sees the burning bush and receives the commission of his life. King Hezekiah as he awaits assault from the invincible Assyrian army. Joseph as he contemplates the scandal caused by his finance's pregnancy. The apostle Peter on the Saturday between the crucifixion and resurrection. Paul as he prepares to leave for Damascus to round up Christians. The jailer of Philippi before the earthquake that will bring his salvation. John in exile on Patmos before his vision. You will be inspired to lean on your own faith as you share the experiences of these men, caught in fear and despair, during the agony of their dark Saturdays, just before the dawn of a new day of hope.
